Recently, North Royalton School Superintendent Mike Laub gave an update to the North Royalton School Board on a number of improvement projects that are taking place throughout the District’s facilities and grounds.
Laub gave a listing of permanent improvement projects that will be targeted for this year, stating some of the following:
Board office conference room update: This project has been started and is expected to be done this summer.
Stadium turf replacement: The start date for this project is May 31st and is expected to take about six weeks to complete. The Stadium Foundation is funding a good part of this project.
Turfing of the Memorial Park fields: At this time, there is no scheduled date.
Performing Arts Center sound system: The sound system is scheduled to be replaced in July.
LED lighting retrofit district wide: This project will be completed over a few years.
Middle School hand rails and stairs are in the process of being painted.
Maintenance garage renovation: This project is expected to start this spring/summer. The project is still in the design phase. There is not a further time line at this time.
Reconfiguration of bus garage campus: This project will start this spring/summer. No time line has been established, as this project is also still in the design phase.
The Board recently approved a resolution authorizing the Treasurer to contract for repair and replacement of selected sections of the transportation facility parking lot in an amount not to exceed $135,000. They also approved a resolution authorizing an agreement with Akron architectural, planning and engineering firm GPD Group in an amount not to exceed $60,000 for design services for the renovation/conversion and reconfiguration of the maintenance garage into a varsity locker room, restrooms and conference space. Presently, the district’s stadium, called the North Royalton Serpentini Chevrolet Stadium, only has a locker room for the home team. Visiting teams use the High School or Middle School. The maintenance garage is located at the stadium, which sits next to North Royalton High School and Middle schools. The district’s plan is to revamp the maintenance garage campus to accommodate new locker rooms for the home team and allow the visiting teams to utilize the locker rooms that the home team is currently using. The reconfiguration of the district’s bus garage area will also be reconfigured to create conference space and new restrooms.
