The March meeting of the North Royalton Board of Education took place on Monday, March 13. Board member, Heidi Dolezal was absent.
The Board approved the all-day kindergarten fees for the 2023-24 school year at $2,500 per year, which was increased from $2,100, the previous year.
The Board approved an agreement with Julian & Grube, Incorporated for procedures for the Medicaid School Program costs requests for the fiscal years ending June 30, 2024 and June 30, 2025.
The Board approved the following appropriation adjustments: 401-Auxiliary Funds, from $1,008,551.68 to $967,721.65; 022-District Agency, from $27,698.36 to $28,398.36.
North Royalton School Superintendent, Mike Laub, talked about the full solar eclipse, which will take place on April 8, 2024. “The Superintendents have been chatting about this for a while, because it is something that perhaps we should consider not having school that day.” He said that it will take place at 3:08 p.m. and it is expected to be pretty significant, with watch parties and gatherings. Laub said they are looking at a potential calendar change of one day and by making it as educational a process as possible. If that takes place, the day would be the Monday after the spring break period. Laub also discussed the staffing postings, which are due to go out soon.
The Board recognized the retirement of Denise Marasch and Tina Schwab. They also accepted the following resignations and retirements:

The Board has approved the supplemental contracts for the 2022-23 school year:

The Board proclaimed March as Middle Level Education Month, “for educating young adolescents between the ages of 10 and 15 (grades 5-9) that are undergoing rapid and dramatic changes in their physical, intellectual, social, emotional and moral development.”
The Board approved services with LLA Therapy for the Stars and Stripes Summer Camp for the special education ESY programs and services for summer, 2023.
The Board approved agreements with Soliant Health, LLC for healthcare services for the 2022-23 school year and Positive Education Program/Pep Assist for services from March – June of the 2022-23 school year.
The Board authorized a lease agreement with Breezeline for optical fiber facilities to service the Royal View facility for an annual amount not to exceed $4,800 for a period of five years.
The Board accepted and acknowledged the following gifts/donations:
The North Royalton Soccer Club donated $275 to both North Royalton High School and the District for use of the District fields for soccer practices.
The next regular meeting will be held on Monday, April 17, at 7 p.m. at the North Royalton High School Community Room.
