St. Albert Pet Blessing honors special friends

St. Albert the Great Church paid some extra special attention to its four-legged friends with a special Pet Blessing in honor of the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi. Recognized by Catholics as the Patron Saint of Animals and Ecology, St. Francis of Assisi was canonized in 1228 by Pope Gregory IX and recognized again, several years later, by Pope John Paul II. Harvest Fest tradition continues with some additions

The annual Harvest Fest on the North Royalton City Green was a bit “unusual” this year. Let’s start with the weather. The high temperature on Sunday, September 24, Harvest Fest Sunday, was 93 degrees, a record high. Camille Price, the chairperson of the Harvest Fest said, “I can remember plenty of years when I would wear a jacket or a winter coat for the Harvest Fest, especially early in the morning. School report card improves in some areas

The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) recently released the School Report Cards for Ohio school districts for the 2016-2017 academic year, as well as the Quality Profile. The North Royalton School District received an overall grade of “B” for achievement and “B” for progress, which were the same as the 2015-16 report. The North Royalton School District met 16 of 24 Standards. They ranked 57 out of 608 school districts in the state and received a Performance Index of 101.091, up from last year’s 98.823. NRFD to wrap up Fire Prevention Week with Open House on Oct. 14

The North Royalton Fire Department will be hosting an Open House to wrap up Fire Prevention Week. Charitable school supply drive ceases collection

The income-eligible families of school children in need will have to look elsewhere next year for assistance with obtaining school supplies. The annual “Operation NR Cares” charitable drive held its final collection this summer, assisting more than 50 local children with receiving new supplies for the school year.
