Hollywood Hounds break-in makes four in recent weeks
Police received a call on Friday, February 3, at about 5 a.m., from a Plain Dealer carrier who was delivering to the store in the plaza. The carrier reported that the large front window of Hollywood Hounds Pet Spa had been shattered. Hollywood Hounds Pet Spa is located at 10019 West 130 Street, north of Albion Road. Police responded to the break-in, where a theft had occurred. This will be the fourth business in recent weeks that had a theft occur in North Royalton. Council Continues Moratorium on Medical Marijuana Law
On February 7, City Council voted 6-1 in favor of extending the current six month moratorium for another six months. Ward 3 Councilman Dan Langshaw cast the only dissenting vote, stating that he felt the moratorium should be a year. Last June, Ohio Governor John Kasich signed House Bill 523 into law, making Ohio the 25th state to adopt a medical marijuana law. The new appointment for the seat of Ward 5 Council Representative is Cheryl Hannan. She replaces Steve Muller, who resigned at the end of year, as he was planning to move out of the city. Council eyes future of Old City Hall
A decision is expected to be made on the fate of the old city hall, located on the City Green at the intersection of Rt 82, Bennett and Ridge Roads. The building was vacated in 2014, when the city’s administration moved to the old library building on State Road. Mayor Bob Stefanik said that the city has been seeking funding to rehabilitate the building, but there are no grants to be had.
