Skipping Stones is a local band with a global flare! Jancy Zhang, the band’s female vocalist, is an international student from China who attends Walsh Jesuit High School and is a senior.
The remaining members of the band are all local, talented musicians! Alex Manson, percussion, is a freshman at North Royalton High School and plays bass drum #5 for the marching band as well as drums for the Jazz Band. Lilly Dunn, guitar, vocals and sax, is a junior at Brecksville Broadview Hts, High School. She plays Lacross and is a saxophone player in the marching band.
Brothers, Danny and Joey Ambrose, are newly minted musicians with Danny handling the bass guitar responsibilities and Joey in perpetual motion playing keyboards! Both are active in many sports including Lacrosse at Walsh Jesuit High School. Danny is a junior and Joey is a freshman.
The band is preparing to compete at the 24th annual Tri C High School Rock Off sponsored by Tri C and Live Nation on February 15. A strong set is planned, beginning with Tool’s “46 & 2,” followed by Lilly Dunn’s original “Super Heroes” and ending with Pat Benatar’s “Heartbreaker.” Jancy’s strong vocal ability allows Skipping Stones to perform just about any song they wish!
Skip Szalek is responsible for managing and teaching the members guitar, bass and performance. Holden Szalek is the band’s drum teacher and, along with Alex, is responsible for all the heart pounding percussion that emanates from the drums!
You can support Skipping Stones by buying a $10 ticket from any of the members for their February 15 performance. That ticket also allows you all access to the entire Rock & Roll Hall of Fame!
