The 15th Annual George Modock, Jr. Memorial Fishing Derby had a record turnout on Friday, July 27. Children ages 7 – 15 were invited to participate in this annual fun event at Memorial Park, 14600 State Road, at the lower pavilion. Prizes, donated by Mrs. George Modock, Jr., were awarded in three age categories: $25 for 1st place in the 7-9 age group; $50 for 1st place in the 10-12 age group; and $75 for 1st place in the 13-15 age group. The 2018 Fishing Derby winners are as follows: Ages 7-9 – First place, Lily Doyle (22-1/2 inch); Second Place, Avery Lukehart; Third Place, Jack Jedllos. Ages 10-12 – First place, Cassidy Doyle (20-1/2 inch); Second Place, Julia Freeman; Third Place, Jillian Fyffe. Ages 13-15 -First place, Matt Beckett (19-1/2 inch); Second Place, Jacob Freeman; Third Place, Connor Stephan.
