At about 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19, North Royalton Police were called to the Huntington Bank, located inside the North Royalton Giant Eagle, where a robbery was reported.
According to North Royalton Police Detective, David Loeding, the suspect displayed a note to the teller, which read “give me all the money. If you do anything, I’ll shoot you.” The teller then handed over an undisclosed amount of cash. The robber then reportedly said “don’t call anyone, don’t do anything. If you do, I’ll come back and shoot.” He then fled the bank and Giant Eagle, getting into a four-door, silver sedan that had a large dent in the driver’s side. Luckily, no one was injured.
The alleged robber was caught on camera and appeared to be a male in his teens, about five and a half feet tall and thinly built. He was wearing black jeans, black shoes and a black hooded sweatshirt with the word “Adidas”, written in white, running down the left arm.
After tips were received by the North Royalton Police Department, the male was identified and was found. The fifteen-year-old male will be charged by the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor with Aggravated Robbery, a felony offense. He currently is being held in the juvenile detention facility, according to Loeding. He was taken to the juvenile facility by an outside agency on another unrelated issue.
The driver is still at large, but police have a person of interest who could be the driver/accomplice. “We believe it is an adult, based on the car and what the family has said,” according to Loeding. The North Royalton Police will continue working with other agencies on the apprehension of the driver.
