This year’s Homecoming football game featured the Bears against a familiar rival, the Brecksville-Broadview Heights Bees.

At stake, ‘the Golden Shoe’.  Since 1936, the neighboring schools have played for possession of the Golden Shoe.

The Shoe will stay in the trophy case at Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School for another year following their 50-34 win over North Royalton.

The Bears jumped off to a 7-0 lead capitalizing on a turnover.  But Brecksville put their offense in high gear, scoring on their next possession on a 76-yard run and extended the lead to 29-14 just before halftime.

“Their (Brecksville’s) skill level is very high right now,” said North Royalton Head Coach Nick Ciulli.  “If we could have punched it in just before half, it would have given us some momentum.  But, we had problems stopping their offense.”  The loss dropped North Royalton’s record to 1-6.  Brecksville is 7-0.

The seniors who are members of the North Royalton High School Marching Band were honored at the Homecoming Game.  The Band Boosters thanked the senior families and band members for all they have done during their four years with the marching band.

Finally, at the front gate of Serpentini Stadium, a basket raffle was held by friends of the Alec Miciunas family to raise funds to assist with medical expenses.  Alec, a former member of the North Royalton High School Marching Band, recently lost his battle with cancer.  Once inside the gate, 32 baskets were on display.

Plenty of memories were made at the Homecoming Game on October 7.  Hope you were able to take part.
