There will be some changes in the North Royalton School District administration, starting in August, for the 2022-23 school year. The changes come from a decision to re-organize the central office team, according to North Royalton School Superintendent, Mike Laub.
“This is the time each school year where we discuss our plans for staffing for the following year. We consider enrollment numbers, programming, resignations/retirements and other factors,” Laub explained in a communication to parents. He further explained that with the vacancy created with the re-retirement of Assistant Superintendent Jim Presot, a discussion ensued regarding the workings of the administrative positions. When asked if the changes associated with the current five-year plan, or was it circumstantial of Jim Presot’s departure, Laub stated, “Jim’s re-retirement is what prompted the discussion. The new Strategic Plan will be built this spring, but we do feel that the reorganization does align with the idea of more support on the teaching and learning side of the organization.”
“Presot’s title was Assistant Superintendent and he was responsible for the majority of the business side of our organization. We have decided to redistribute his responsibilities between the Superintendent, Treasurer and Human Resource office,” stated Laub. “This reorganization does not add additional administrative staff, but it does provide increased support on the educational side of our organization. We want to thank Mr. Presot for all of his hard work and dedication to our District. To manage the building projects over the past four years and serve in the role of the assistant superintendent has been no small task. We wish him the best and thank him for his outstanding service to our District.”
The position of North Royalton School District’s Curriculum Director, Melissa Vojta, will become the Director of Elementary Instruction and Assistant Superintendent. “We will take that administrative position and use it on the curricular side of the organization,” explained Laub.
North Royalton Middle School Principal Jeff Cicerchi will then be named the Director of Secondary Instruction. “We believe that splitting the curriculum duties will allow our team to provide more support to the educational side of our organization,” said Laub. Current Assistant Principal of the North Royalton Middle School, Erin Calabrese, will then be named as the new Principal of the Middle School. “Erin is an outstanding instructional leader and has a clear understanding of our middle school team.” said Laub. The position of Assistant Middle School Principal will then be posted to fill.
The current North Royalton School Personnel Director, Patrick Farrell, will take on added duties and responsibilities and the new title of Director of Human Resources.
“These changes will provide a different level of support to our staff and students,” stated Laub.
“For years our primary focus needed to be facilities and how the limitations of our physical plant affected education,” stated North Royalton Board of Education President, John Kelly. “Thanks to the support from our community passing the bond issue, that focus has changed. Our new plan for reorganization of the central office will allow for refocusing of energy to academics and student achievement now that facilities are much less of an issue.”
