North Royalton High School climbed in the ranks of Ohio High Schools, from 127 last year to 85 this year, according to the U.S. News and World Report 2021 rankings. Every year, the national magazine lists the best high schools across the United States and District of Columbia.
“The U.S. News Best High Schools rankings include data on nearly 24,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia. Nearly 18,000 schools were ranked on six factors based on their performance on state assessments and how well they prepare students for college,” according to US News officials. They base their methodology distribution as follows: 30% College Readiness; 20% Math and Reading Proficiency; 20% Math and Reading Performance; 10% Underserved Student Performance; 10% College Curriculum Breadth and 10% Graduation Rate.
This year, according to the data collected by U.S. News & World Report, North Royalton High School climbed to 85 in Ohio high schools, in a list containing 683 Ohio high schools. The five top ranked Ohio high schools this year were Walnut Hills High School in Cincinnati; Ottawa Hills High School in Toledo; Wyoming High School in Wyoming; Bexley High School in Bexley and Solon High School in Solon. The national magazine reviewed more than 17,857 public high schools in fifty states and the District of Columbia.
North Royalton High School’s overall score was 85.21 out of 100. It ranked 2,641 in the National Rankings, up from 3,536 last year. The school is ranked 21 in the Cleveland Metropolitan area, up from 23 last year.
According to the US News data, the total enrollment at the North Royalton High School at the time of this ranking was approximately 1,464 students, which broke down to about 350-375 in each of the four grades, nine through twelve. There were 75 full time teachers. The student-teacher ratio was twenty to one. The total minority enrollment is about 13% and 13% of students are economically disadvantaged. Of the gender distribution, 48% of the students are female.
North Royalton students have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement course work and exams. Of the North Royalton High School students, 28% passed at least one Advanced Placement exam. The Exam Pass Rate for AP Students is 78%. The Mathematics Proficiency scored at 73% and Reading Proficiency scored at 85%. The graduation rate from North Royalton High School is 96%.
On college readiness, North Royalton High School scored 78.1% on College-Ready Student Performance. U.S. News “calculates these values for schools based on student performance on state-required tests and internationally available exams on college-level coursework (AP® and IB exams).,” according to US News officials.
