The North Royalton Board of Education’s monthly School Board meeting took place on Monday, February 8.
The Board re-appointed Biagio Sidoti as the District’s Treasurer for a five-year term, beginning August 1, 2021, through July 31, 2026.
The Board approved the following 2020-21 appropriation adjustments:
• 516 IDEA PART B Special Education $1,075,234.75 to $1,072,641.14
•572 Title I $367,949.96 to $368,719.13
• 587 Early Childhood Special Education $22,984.06 to $22,941.24
• 590 Title II-A $106,875.10 to $112,284.50
• 599 Title IV-A $29,134.94 to $30,145.38
• 467 Student Wellness and Success Fund $186,282.23 to $290,391.14
Superintendent Greg Gurka talked about three at-home learning days, called asynchronous days, that are scheduled to accommodate the days the staff will receive COVID-19 vaccines. The asynchronous days will be February 22 and March 15 and 16. He gave a brief update on the construction. He also said that the applications for Superintendent are due March 1 for his position.
The Board approved Heidi Dolezal and Terry DeLap as alternates to the Ohio School Board Association’s Annual Capital Conference, to be held November 7-9, 2021.
The Board authorized the following listed employee group contract/compensation plan extensions from August 1, 2021 through July 31, 2022, including pay increases of two-and-a-half percent (2-1/2%) for the 2021-22 school year: Central Office Professional Staff Association, North Royalton Principals’ Association, Central Office Administrators, and the collective bargaining agreement contract rollover with OAPSE Local #213.
The Board approved the North Royalton High School Course Catalog for the 2021-22 school year.

The Board approved the trip proposal for the North Royalton High School Band to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla. (April 18 – April 23, 2022).
The Board approved and acknowledged the following gifts and donations:
• Dan Langshaw of North Royalton donated 100 face masks each to North Royalton High School and North Royalton Middle School, valued at $1,000.
• The North Royalton Soccer Association donated $275 to each of the following buildings for use of their gym/stadium/soccer field for practices: North Royalton High School, Albion Elementary, Royal View Elementary, and Valley Vista Elementary.
• JMI Reports donated office supplies, office furniture and technology equipment, valued at approximately $5,000, to North Royalton City Schools.
• Lynn Adams of North Royalton donated three pull golf carts, valued at approximately $120, to the North Royalton City Schools Athletic Department.
The next regular meeting will be held March 9, at 7 p.m. at the Royal View Gymnasium.
