The April meeting of the North Royalton Board of Education took place on Monday, April 11.
The Board approved the following tax budget for the next succeeding fiscal year, commencing January 1, 2023, to be levied within and without the ten mill limitation as follows:
General Fund Inside, 5.00; General Fund Outside, 53.90; Total General Fund, 58.90; Permanent Improvement, 1.50; Bond Retirement Fund, 4.30; Grand Total, 64.70.
The Board approved the following 2021-22 appropriation adjustments: 003-Permanent Improvement (transportation paving project), from $3,392,250.00 to $3,524,250.00; 019- Other Grants (increased revenue for the purchase of new weight room equipment) from $291,088.84 to $319,120.38; 019-Other Grants (increased revenue) from $319,120.38 to $335,284.13.
The Board approved the following transfer: 001-General Fund to 950A-Athletics, $ 45,000.00 (To cover final expenses for the 2021-22 fiscal year).
The Board acknowledged the following appreciation dates: Administrative Professionals Day (April 27, 2022) and Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week (May 1-7, 2022). The Board appreciates the outstanding efforts of all employees of North Royalton City Schools and commends them for “making the difference” in providing a quality educational experience by inspiring and empowering learners. They also acknowledged National Volunteer Week (April 17-23, 2022). The Board expressed grateful appreciation to these volunteers who have unselfishly contributed their time, expertise, and financial support to the North Royalton City Schools. The Board honored Kim Ponting, PTA President of North Royalton Elementary School, as the 2021-22 Friend of Education.
The Board approved an agreement with Playhouse Square Foundation for rehearsal and presentation of graduation exercises for the North Royalton High School Class of 2022 on Friday, June 3, 2022, at the Key Bank State Theatre.
The Board recognized the retirement of aid, Daniel Duda. They also accepted the following resignations and retirements:

The Board accepted and acknowledge the following gifts/donations:
-An anonymous donation of $2,000 was made to the wrestling program at North Royalton High School
-The North Royalton Soccer Club donated $275 to North Royalton High School and $275 to the District for use of their facilities for practices this past year
– Jeff Tarnowski of The Great Lakes Company of Hinckley, Ohio donated $250 to the Caring Closet at North Royalton High School.
-Daniel and Susan Renner of North Royalton donated $24 to the Caring Closet at North Royalton High School.
The Board approved a three-year agreement with Certified Pest Control to service the stadium, Board Office, bus garage, high school, middle school and elementary school, beginning May 17, 2022 through May 17, 2025.
The Board approved the renewal of the service agreement with UniFirst Uniforms, effective April 9, 2022 through April 9, 2025, to provide uniforms for District maintenance and transportation employees as per the Ohio Association of Public School Employees (OAPSE) Agreement.
The Board approved a resolution authorizing the Treasurer to contract for repair and replacement of selected sections of parking lots for an amount not to exceed $132,000.
The Board approved a resolution determining that Albion Road Elementary School property, at 9360 Albion Road is no longer needed and should be offered at public auction in the manner specified by the Ohio Revised Code and its provisions.
The Board then adjourned into executive session to consider the sale of property at competitive bidding.
The next regular Board of Education meeting will take place on Monday, May 9, at the North Royalton High School Community Room.
