The West 130 Bridge project began on Thursday, February 15. The project includes the replacement of the bridge over the Rocky River, which is located just south of Valley Parkway, on West 130 Street. The Ruhlin Company, Cuyahoga County’s contractor for the project, announced that the closure of the area around the bridge is expected to be about 210 days, into September. During that time, West 130th Street will be closed to through traffic between Drake and Edgerton Roads.
Motorists who usually travel on West 130 Street, especially south of Royalton Road (Rt. 82), detours to the area from Royalton Road, south, to the North Royalton corporate line, are being affected with delays and additional traffic, as West 130 Street is now closed at Valley Parkway in both directions. Increased traffic is taking place on Drake Road, Bennett Road, Edgerton Road, Akins Road, York Road and Valley Parkway.
A commercial vehicle detour has been established for motorists who usually use West 130 Street. For those traveling northbound, the detour suggests taking Boston Road east to Ridge Road (SR 3), then west on Royalton Road (Rt. 82). For southbound traffic, take Royalton Road east, to Ridge Road (SR 3) south, then to Boston Road west. For those with inquiries regarding the project or road closure, please contact the Cuyahoga County Project Field Office at (440) 420-5262. The North Royalton Police Department advises that due to the nature of the intersection at Ridge Road, (SR 3) and Boston Road, commercial drivers may want to consider continuing S/B on SR 3 to SR 303 (Center Road), W/B on SR 303 to N/B West 130. The NRPD will be monitoring the traffic situation and will make adjustments, as needed, according to North Royalton Police Chief Keith Tarase.
Updates to the project will be posted on the City of North Royalton OH Facebook page. The Waze app or the traffic overlay on Google Maps will show the locations of any backups.
