The March meeting of the North Royalton Board of Education took place on Thursday, March 12.
The Board approved the following appropriation adjustments: Fund 401 Auxiliary Services from $727,971.36 to $731,301.07; Fund 300 District Managed Student Activity Fund from $680,000.00 to $700,000.00.
The Board adopted the following tax rates: General Fund Inside, 5.00 mills and General Fund Outside, 51.00, mills for a Total General Fund 56.00 mills; Permanent Improvement Fund Inside, 1.00 mills and Permanent Improvement Fund Outside, .50 mills for a Total Permanent Improvement Fund, 1.50 mills; Bond Retirement Fund, 2.90 mills.  Grand Total Fund, 60.40 mills.
The Board resolved to authorize the filing of complaints with the County Board of Revision, regarding identified property on Royalton Road, that was recently sold in an arm’s length transaction.  The complaint is regarding the determination of total valuation or assessment of the parcel, that is valued at $770,100 and recently sold for $2,446,674.
The Board approved a resolution for the issuance and sale of bonds in the maximum principal amount of $77,680,000 for refunding for debt charges savings of some of the district’s outstanding improvement bonds, Series 2017, dated August 15, 2017.
The Board  accepted the following retirements:
Kathleen Filuta/Intervention Specialist/Elementary School/effective July 1, 2026 (last day of work will be June 5, 2026)
John Michael McGinnis/Principal/Elementary School/effective July 1, 2026 (last day of work will be June 30, 2026)
Lisa Sprunger/Grade 7 Social Studies/Middle School/effective June 1, 2026 (last day of work will be May 29, 2026)
Robin Vargo/Cafeteria Manager/Middle School/effective June 1, 2026 (last day of work will be May 29, 2026).

The Board approved the following stipend for high dosage tutoring before school from the general fund at $34.31 per hour, effective March 3, 2026: Julia Sedlecky
The Board approved the following school volunteer for the 2025-26 school year or as indicated: Steven Baltas/Baseball Coach Boys Assistant/High School
The Board approved the following change of assignment: Katie Bober/from Literacy Coach, Elementary School to Assistant Principal, Elementary School/effective August 1, 2026 through July 31, 2029, at a base salary of $92,207.00
The Board proclaimed March as Middle Level Education Month, “for educating young adolescents between the ages of 10 and 15 (grades 5-9) that are undergoing rapid and dramatic changes in their physical, intellectual, social, emotional and moral development.”
The Board approved a contract with New Story for special education programs and services starting February 20, 2026 through the remainder of the 2025-26 school year
The Board approved services with STARS and STRIPES Summer Camp for special education ESY programs and services for the summer of 2026.
The Board approved an agreement with Positive Education Program/Pep Assist for an additional 16 hours for services for the 2025-26 school year.
The Board adopted a resolution to participate in the Ohio School Council Electricity Purchase Program.
The Board approved an authorization for Ohio Schools Council Cooperative to advertise and receive school bus bids for the purchase of four 72-passenger unitized conventional school bus chassis and bodies.
The Board accepted and acknowledged the following gifts/donations:
-The Becker family donated $200 to North Royalton Middle School for the eighth-grade trip to Washington, D.C.
-North Royalton Bus Drivers donated $665 to North Royalton Middle School for the eighth-grade trip to Washington, D.C.
-Danielle Going of North Royalton donated school supplies and recess equipment, valued at approximately $100, to North Royalton Middle School.
-The North Royalton Soccer Club donated $275 each to the North Royalton High School, North Royalton Middle School, and the district for use of the district fields for soccer.
The next regular meeting will be held on Thursday, April 16, at 5 p.m. at the North Royalton High School Community Room.
