School district construction is progressing
At the April 13 School Board meeting, Assistant Superintendent Jim Presot presented an update on the progress of the construction at the various district facilities. School Superintendent Gurka noted that “construction at both our elementary site and our high school site are continuing. School construction has been deemed an essential business. Rite Aid building razed to make room for Chase Bank
The building that previously housed Rite Aid has now been demolished and the beginning of construction of something new can be seen. The Rite Aid property, which is located at the corner of Royalton Road and State Road is where this has been taking place, and will be changing from a retail store to the home of a bank. Rite Aid vacated the property when they closed down that store’s location last year. Rite Aid was built in 1997 on the 1.37 acre parcel. North Royalton City Schools dropped from EdChoice voucher program
The North Royalton School District recently learned that they will be taken off the list of Ohio school districts that were mandated to participate in the state’s EdChoice Voucher Program. Last year, with the adoption of the state’s biennium budget, it included a change in its EdChoice scholarship program that has added the North Royalton District, as well as other well-to-do districts to their program. The EdChoice Scholarship program offers scholarship to parents of students in underperforming public schools and for low income students. The scholarship is used to attend private school ....
Schools closed for remainder of school year, no thanks to Covid-19
On Monday, April 20, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced that Ohio school students will continue to go to school remotely through the end of the school year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The last day of school for North Royalton students is May 27. In a press release from the Governor, issued April 20, he stated that “we balanced many issues in arriving at this decision.
