At the latest Mayor’s Breakfast, Jim English, Vice President of Treasury Management, from F.N.B. Corporation’s First National Bank, gave a presentation regarding fraud prevention. Mayor Bob Stefanik noted that ten to fifteen years ago fraud was not as prevalent as it is today, but with technology, fraud is much more commonplace. City water main work added to construction projects
In addition to all the road construction going on this year, two water main replacement projects will also take place. One project will tie up a part of State Road; the other a section of Royalton Road. The first project has already begun. The State Road project is replacing a section on State Road from Castle Drive to Sprague Road. The second project, which has been in the works for several years, will affect Royalton Road from State Road to Prince Charles, which is phase two of a project that was started in 2016. Federal legislation introduced to combat illegal robocalls
Bob Latta, U.S. Congressman for Ohio’s 5th district in northwest Ohio, has authored legislation, the Support Tools to Obliterate Pesky (STOP) Robocalls Act. The bill would take action to combat the nuisance from illegal robocalls. According to his website, “one study found that Americans were targeted with more than 26 billion robocalls in 2018, a 46% increase over the year before.” “Nearly every American has faced that moment where they think they’re getting a call from somebody they know, only to realize it’s an annoying robocall,” said Latta. “They’re a nuisance, a waste ....
City walks away with grant to fund sidewalk project
The city of North Royalton has again been awarded a grant to fund a sidewalk project. Mayor Bob Stefanik recently announced the award, which was one of two applications made. This will be the third in recent years. The grant was in the amount of $100,000, and was awarded through the Transportation for Livable Community Initiative (TLCI), administered through the Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA). The section of the sidewalk will run from Memorial Park on State Road, south, to Akins Road. The second application for $205,000 would have extended that sidewalk from Akins Road, south ....
