Front yard parking is now banned
Council adopted legislation that would ban front yard parking, citywide. The measure was unanimously adopted at the December 4 City Council meeting. The issues of front lawn parking and the paving of driveways and accessory driveways have been discussed since mid-July, where it was first introduced in the City Council Building and Building Codes Committee. Mayor Bob Stefanik initiated the discussion, proposing a front yard parking ban. Stefanik said that the ban was sought to target toward habitual abusers. The December meeting of the North Royalton Board of Education took place on Monday, December 10. Athletic Director Bo Kuntz recognized fall sports athletes and coaches. Preschool Director Mike McGinnis gave a presentation recognizing the North Royalton Public Library for the monthly sensory story time program that they present for the pre-school students. A public hearing was held on the issue of re-employing Assistant School Superintendent, James J. Presot, in the same position following his retirement which will take effect December 31. Middle School sustains damage when driver hit building
The North Royalton Middle School sustained some damage when a driver ran into the building on Wednesday, November 28. Luckily, no severe injuries were reported. At about 7:20 a.m., a parent, who was dropping a student off for school, went over the curb, first striking a bench, then traveled farther to crash into the building. The air bags in the vehicle were deployed during the crash. The parent, a Middle School student and a High School student were in the vehicle at the time of the crash. St. Albert the Great lends a hand to neighboring Assumption Academy
Saint Albert the Great will embark on a new journey with Church of the Assumption and its parish school Assumption Academy in Broadview Heights. Beginning with the 2019-20 academic year, leadership from Saint Albert the Great will manage Assumption Academy in an effort to revitalize the more than 60-year-old school and assist in boosting enrollment, which has been declining for the past several years and currently sits at roughly 140 students with full capacity being around 300. “We could see the class sizes getting smaller and smaller and we knew that children were choosing other schools ....
Christmas is a time of great goodwill and this year is no different
At the city level, the Office on Aging & Human Services has teamed up with Royal Redeemer Lutheran Church and Saint Albert the Great Church for the Adopt a Family program providing Christmas gift donations from church parishioners, private individuals and residents, local businesses and civic groups. This holiday season, approximately 51 families and nearly 130 children will be helped by the program, said Debra Burrows, outreach specialist for the Office on Aging & Human Services.
