Three NR athletes sign Letters of Intent

On November 15, three North Royalton Student-Athletes signed National Letters of Intent to play their sport next year in college. Two of the three athletes signed to play at NCAA Division One Schools. The three are senior swimmer Sarah Turchanik, who will attend The Ohio State University. Senior volleyball player Anna Kirkke, who will attend Ashland University in 2019. And senior basketball player Taiyier Parks, who will be on the court for the Michigan State Spartans. Retiring school assistant superintendent hopes to regain same position in early 2019

The North Royalton City Schools’ Assistant Superintendent Jim Presot is set to retire at the end of this year. His current contract was set to expire July 31, 2019. The Board of Education will be voting on whether to offer a new contract to Presot early next year. According to Ohio law, the North Royalton School District posted a Legal Notice on November 8, stating that James J. Presot, currently employed as the assistant superintendent, will be retired and seeking re-employment with the district in the same position, following his retirement. City to receive tax incentive on senior development

North Royalton will be receiving additional tax revenue from a new senior housing development. City Council recently approved legislation that would allow the city to receive tax money that would normally go to Cuyahoga County. At their November 20 meeting, City Council unanimously adopted an ordinance that establishes Tax Increment Financing (TIF) for Royalton Place, the senior development on York Road, near Route 82. City looks to decrease energy costs

City Council recently selected Leopardo Companies, Incorporated to prepare an energy conservation report for the city. The measure was unanimously adopted at the November 20 City Council meeting. Ultimately, the city is looking to reduce operating costs through energy conservation improvement projects. “We’re always looking to reduce our energy costs,” said Mayor Bob Stefanik. Royal Redeemer Lutheran Church serves more than 1700 Thanksgiving Day Care and Share dinners

It started back in 1989 when volunteers at Royal Redeemer Lutheran Church at the corner of Royalton and Abbey Roads began the Care and Share Community Dinner. On that Thanksgiving Day nearly 30 years ago, volunteers served 100 dinners.
