North Royalton Schools Rank High in State Report Card
The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) recently released the 2023 Ohio School Report Card, which assesses every school district in Ohio. They did note, however, that “report cards are only one part of Ohio’s education story. To get a more complete picture, it is essential to visit schools, talk to educators, parents and students, and review school or district websites.” This year, it updated the star-based system that has been used over the past few years, which replaced a letter grade rating. Sentencing and arrests made for area mail theft
The North Royalton Police Department has recommended that residents pay close attention to their bank accounts and cashed checks, to be sure that the checks were cashed by those who were intended, as residents in North Royalton and in other communities continue to fall victim to check fraud. One North Royalton resident recently reported that he sent his check to pay a credit card bill, but came to find that the check had been altered by thousands of dollars and deposited into a local bank and cashed. School Board News
The September meeting of the North Royalton Board of Education took place on September 11. The Board approved the 2023-24 appropriation adjustments. School Superintendent Matt Laub stated that “we sent an email out to parents from transportation about opting out if your child is not a regular rider. We sent that out because, obviously, driver shortage creates an issue and so what we are trying to do is tighten up those routes as much as we can, so keep an eye out for that email and spread the word to your friends to take a peek at that email and if you are interested in driving a bus, give ....
City applies for transportation grants
At its September 5 meeting, the North Royalton City Council unanimously adopted an ordinance that authorizes the city to apply for two grants that are funded through the Transportation for Livable Communities Initiative (TLCI). The applications are being submitted to the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA). If granted, would help fund the installation of two sidewalk projects. The first application is in the amount of $229,585.62 for an Implementation Grant for the installation of sidewalks on State Road that would be installed from Wallings Road to Lisa Lane. Voters to see City and State Issues in November election
North Royalton Voters will have an opportunity in November to decide if they would like to make a change to the city’s charter and to two changes to the state’s constitution. The charter change would not only increase the term of Ward Council Representatives from two to four years, but, could potentially increase the actual term from its current twelve-year limit. The state constitutional changes address reproductive health and legalized marijuana. The proposed city charter amendment would allow Ward Council Representatives to serve four-year terms, instead of the current two-year terms. ....
