Royal Redeemer continues to serve Care & Share Dinner on Thanksgiving Day
For the past 25 years, Royal Redeemer Lutheran Church has provided Thanksgiving meals to shut-ins and to those who live in or near North Royalton, offering a chance to enjoy food and fellowship on the holiday. This year is no exception. The Care and Share Thanksgiving Dinner at Royal Redeemer served 100 meals in their first year in 1989. This year, Lisa Martin and her staff of volunteers are planning to serve 1,600 meals on Thanksgiving Day. Suspect shot after officer is stabbed
A North Royalton Police officer was stabbed and the perpetrator shot after police tried to issue a probate order on Friday, October 28. Two members of the North Royalton Police Department and an EMS squad arrived at the 9800 block of Independence Place condominiums at 7:04 p.m. to issue the order, which dictated that they take the 45-year-old male to St. Vincent Charity Hospital for psychiatric observation. “The arrest became unruly, combative,” said North Royalton Police Detective, David Loeding. “The subject withdrew a knife, I believe, from his person and stabbed one of the officers ....

On Tuesday October 18, Vice President Joe Biden welcomed His Excellency Matteo Renzi Prime Minster of Italy at a luncheon in the Benjamin Franklin State Dining Room. Guests dined on arugula salad followed by a vegetable course of squash, and entrée of roasted quail, and pumpkin budino for dessert. The lunch was prepared by Chef Tony Manuano. New development coming to Bennett’s Corners
Recently the North Royalton Planning Commission unanimously approved two projects that will help spur the city’s economic development. The two projects include an equipment and truck dealership for Best Equipment Company and a Speedway gas station. The Commission also granted preliminary approval for a retail building near the new gas station. Last June, the North Royalton City Council unanimously approved legislation that allows Mayor Bob Stefanik to enter into an agreement for Community Reinvestment Area (CRA) tax incentives for Best Equipment Company. January 5, 2009 was the first day back to school from the Christmas break. The traffic outside of NR High School was crowded but manageable. Mother Nature cooperated; it was dry and not too cold. The School District started the year by initiating the cutbacks necessary due to the failure of the 5.9 Emergency Operating Levy on November 4.
