Residents invited to storm water fee workshop scheduled on April 25
Mayor Bob Stefanik has scheduled a workshop on Monday, April 25, for residents who are interested in learning about the proposed new fee through the Northeast Regional Sewer District’s Storm Water Management Program. The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. at the City Hall Council Chambers, located at 14600 State Road, in Memorial Park. According to Stefanik, the meeting will discuss the new fees and how not only residents, but also homeowners associations and businesses can apply to receive credits toward those fees. Former Princess North Royalton heads to Miss Ohio pageant in June
North Royalton High School Senior, Erin Simonek, continues to make her hometown proud as she competed in a Miss Ohio Preliminary pageant. She was crowned Miss Ohio River 2016 on March 12 in Mansfield. Simonek, soon to be 18, will be the youngest woman to compete for the title of Miss Ohio 2016. She will be joined on stage with Karolina Ulasevich, 2013 Miss North Royalton. Metroparks acquire North Royalton land for rookery
The Cleveland Metroparks, in an effort to enhance its ecosystem mission of conservation along the East Branch of the Rocky River, has acquired fourteen acres in North Royalton to ultimately create a natural resource reserve of 237 acres in the Millstream Run Reservation area. The acreage has been acquired in the “Heron Rookery Wetland” area, adding the fourteen acres to the current 20-acre “Heron Rookery Wetland,” adjacent to an existing 88-acre Metroparks property and a 70-acre Cuyahoga Soil and Water Conservation District easement. City Council discusses storm water fee
Two pieces of legislation were introduced at the March 15 City Council meeting that could ultimately affect the pocketbooks of North Royalton residents. The first ordinance authorizes the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the Northeast Regional Sewer District (NEORSD) to settle litigation regarding the billing “C” district. The second ordinance would then authorize the Mayor to enter into a service agreement with NEORSD in order to include all of the city’s storm water districts within the NEORSD Regional Storm Water Management Program. City administrations review deer hunting legislation
Now that the deer hunting issue was passed in the March primary election, it’s time for the city to get down to the work of writing the legislation that will determine the parameters of the program. All six communities passed the measure. In North Royalton, 6,395 voters voted for the measure and 2,968 voted against it. Last November, the North Royalton City Council unanimously adopted a resolution that would allow a deer hunting measure to be placed on the March ballot.
