Schools change monthly Board meeting times
The North Royalton Board of Education has changed the schedules of their monthly work sessions and regular meetings, after decades of a fixed schedule. North Royalton again changes General Assembly District
North Royalton has again changed Ohio General Assembly Districts, after a new map has been approved by the Ohio General Assembly, as adopted by the Ohio Redistricting Commission. The new district will be in effect for the upcoming March 19 primary election. The Ohio redistricting process normally takes place after each census. In 2022, the process was affected by anti-gerrymandering rules that were approved in 2015, plus lawsuits that were filed against the maps that were previously drawn. Council adopts new sewer rate increase schedule
The North Royalton City Council approved legislation that will increase the five-year sewer rates, beginning this year. The measure was introduced at the November 21 City Council meeting and then passed unanimously at the December 19 City Council meeting. The plan, formulated by the Raftelis Financial Consultants, Incorporated, included recommendations for proposed rates for the next five years for the sewer enterprise fund, in order to support the revenues to support the sewer system. The custom of laying a wreath in remembrance of fallen heroes is centuries old. Wreaths Across America continues this tradition on the third Saturday in December. In 1992 the Worcester family in Maine had a surplus of holiday wreaths from their evergreen farm. Mr. Morrill Worcester arranged for the extra wreaths to be placed in Arlington National Cemetery in an area that had few visitors to honor the sacrifices of those whose resting places are marked with a white stone. Council adopts Marijuana legislation
The North Royalton City Council unanimously adopted a measure at its December 5 City Council meeting that would prohibit cannabis operations within its municipal jurisdiction. The ordinance, introduced by Mayor Larry Antoskiewicz, was introduced at the November 21 City Council meeting. On November 7, the Ohio electorate passed a law that, among other things, legalized recreational marijuana. The law took effect on December 7.
