Ohio enacts Distracted Driving Law
In the State of Ohio, as of April 4, the law prohibits drivers to hold a cell phone or electronic device in your hand, lap or other parts of the body while driving. Those seen violating this law can be pulled over. According to the Ohio Department of Public Safety, “drivers over 18 years old can make or receive calls via hands-free devices, including: speaker phone, earpiece, wireless headset, electronic watch, connecting phone to vehicle. Safety Fair is a fun and educational day for all
The 2023 North Royalton Safety Fair sponsored by NR Fire Department got off to a wet start, but the rain moved out and the sun came out to shine on everyone at the Safety Fair. There were firefighters’ hats, stickers of all kinds, small equipment bags, popcorn, beverages, and, of course, hot dogs. Everyone under the shelter of the fire station became part of STEM, (Safety Themed Event Member). Victoria Tsiupyk, who climbed up in the trucking cab last year, came back this year with her parents to see what was new. Thirty-six locations around North Royalton received some tender loving care and attention from more than 260 members of Royal Redeemer Lutheran Church the weekend of May 5 and 6. It was the annual Servant Weekend. After a hearty breakfast, volunteers headed out to their assigned locations. New position leads to added programs
The creation of a new position in the North Royalton Police Department (NRPD) has led to the creation of new programs that are designed to bring the NRPD and the community closer together. In January, North Royalton Police Chief Keith Tarase instituted the new position of Community Engagement Coordinator within the NRPD. “I was looking for the department to have more engagement with the community, other than through our normal police duties,” said Tarase.
