It’s been quite a year here at the Recorder. We celebrated our 75th anniversary of delivering the news to the residents of our wonderful city. Through our stories, we have documented the lives of our residents, and the progress our city and schools have made as our community grew and grew. Recorder - What will the next 75 years bring?
We have looked into the past 75 years that the Royalton Recorder has been in existence. You have read about the changes in North Royalton from rural dairy and grain farmland to semi-rural growing community, to part of the larger housing area known as suburbia or even exurbia. The growth from rural area to “one-of-the-best-places-to-raise-your-kids” suburban area has brought with it all the challenges of street maintenance, sewer and water quality upgrades, and needed modernization and consistent improvements for our police and fire departments. Bowlers take to the lanes for North Royalton High School
After years of requests by parents and students, North Royalton High School is fielding a Bowling Team for the first time. The team is competing in the National Conference of the Suburban League. For those of you who do not know, bowling teams are made up of separate teams of boys and girls. Each match is made up of teams bowling two individual ten-frame games (with five bowlers on a team) and three so-called baker games. A baker game has a line-up of five team members each bowling two frames out of the 10. (1-6, 2-7, 3-8, 4-9 and 5-10). This brings the team element into bowling. The winner ....
Burger King closed for repairs due to fire
On Monday, December 12, a call came in to the North Royalton Fire Department at about 8:30 p.m. from a person driving by the Burger King, located at 5702 Royalton Road. The caller said that heavy smoke was coming from the smoke stack for the grease trap. There were flames in the hood that could not be put out with an extinguisher. Everyone was immediately evacuated. Mutual aid was given by Broadview Heights, who responded with a ladder, as well as Hinckley, Strongsville and Parma. CEI and Columbia Gas also responded. As CMO of the retailer Bear On The Chair, Symonne Harrison helps oversee everything from updating social media to reviewing product design to monitoring sales data. She’s just taken over the company’s Instagram account and will participate in a Meet-and-Greet event Dec. 18 at Learning Express at SouthPark Mall, where the Bear On The Chair product is sold.
