Despite cool air, Holiday Lighting gave all a warm feeling

Santa Claus received a “Rock Star” welcome to North Royalton on Sunday, November 29, during the 15th annual Christmas Parade and Lighting of the City Green Ceremony. Traditionally, Santa Claus arrives in North Royalton riding on the back of a NR Fire Department ladder truck. This year was no exception. As Santa climbed down the Fire Truck ladder, he was immediately surrounded by children and by more than a few adults who wanted a picture of, or a ‘selfie’ with the Star of the Parade. Deer Hunting Proposition Discussed

A resolution was introduced at the November 4 City Council meeting that would place before the voters on the March ballot, the question of allowing certain deer hunting within the city limits of North Royalton. This measure is part of a regional deer culling program, while pressure on the Ohio Department of Natural Resources will continue to pursue other methods of deer population control, such as sterilization and birth control. NRHS senior wins national Breakthrough Junior Challenge

One North Royalton teen not only gained national recognition and a hefty prize, but also brought wealth and notoriety back home. On November 8, The National Geographic Channel broadcasted the Breakthrough Prize program award ceremony, live from NASA’s Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, California. North Royalton Honors Those in the Military and Their Families

Many people in North Royalton do not know who Wally Ohler is. Before Memorial Day 2015, I was in that group. Now, I’m glad to know him. Wally and “his band of angels” help members of the military, both from North Royalton and well beyond the city limits. Plus, Wally helps family members of those in military service. I met Wally Ohler at the Memorial Day Service in front of North Royalton City Hall this past May. I was struck by his passion for those who serve our country, past and present and their families. Memorial Park Surveillance Cameras Up and Running

In order to protect the city’s recent investment of a newly enhanced Memorial Park and provide residents with a safe environment, the city administration has recently installed surveillance cameras around the Memorial Parka area. The cameras were installed in mid-October, after various forms of vandalism had been experienced over the summer. Memorial Park is located on State Road between Rt. 82 and North Akins Roads.
