NR school calendar will not change for 2023-24 school year

Although a local school district has changed their school calendar to include more holidays in the name of inclusion, the North Royalton calendar for next year will remain the same. Recently, the Beachwood City Schools added three new holidays to their academic school calendar. With the upcoming 2023-24 school year, the Beachwood City Schools have added the Lunar New Year, Eid al-Fitr, and Diwali to their list of holidays and their students will have those days off when they fall on a weekday. Back in his days at North Royalton High School (NRHS), John Amato loved his English and broadcasting classes, but never imagined it would lead him to where he is now. Amato graduated from NRHS in 2017 and took his passions with him to college. He went on to study media production with a minor in English at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, earning his Bachelor’s degree in 2021. Tasers are subject of discussion for City Council

The North Royalton City Council recently discussed the purchase of Tasers for the North Royalton Police Department. The discussion took place at Council’s Safety Committee meeting. Frigid temperatures cause water woes

Several water main breaks occurred in North Royalton in January, causing water outages and boil alerts. Unfortunately, this is not a rare occurrence, with aging water mains. “Water main breaks are unpredictable,” according to the City of Cleveland, Division of Water (CDW). “A big factor is weather. The colder the weather is for an extended period of time, the more water main breaks occur. School Board News

The first meeting of the North Royalton Board of Education took place on Monday, January 9. Assistant Superintendent Melissa Vojta gave a presentation on the curricular strategic plan goal relating to students who are English learners. The Board adopted the Fiscal Year 2023-24 Tax Budget. It then approved the Comprehensive Continuous Improvement Plan grant for 2022-23, in the amount of $652.63.
