The North Royalton Homesteaders 4-H Club members are readying their projects for the 125th running of the Cuyahoga County Fair (August 9-14) and the 4-H Livestock Auction, which takes place on the last night of the fair, Saturday, August 13, at 7 p.m. North Royalton Homesteaders 4-H Club members will have a record number of large livestock projects for sale at the 4-H Livestock Auction this year, including three steer (Black Angus), four hogs, two lambs, as well as five pens of chickens (known as ‘broilers’) and a pen of market ducks. Woof Woof, Pet Carnival is back - humans invited, too!

The 15th Annual Pet Carnival returns to the North Royalton City Green on Sunday, July 24, from 1– 4 p.m. This extremely popular event is a celebration for community, families, and pets. Council declines shock collar legislation

Council has decided to not include shock collars in the City’s codified ordinances relating to restraining dogs and have taken the measure for discussion off the agenda of the Council Safety Committee. A shock collar, also known as an e-collar electronic collar, or remote training collar, is a dog collar that delivers electrical stimulation of varying intensity and duration to the neck of a dog with a radio-controlled device. School Board rejects Albion School land sale

The North Royalton Board of Education recently amended a previous sale of the Valley Vista property and also rejected the bid on the Albion Road school property, which is located on Albion Road, east of York Road. The Albion property is one of three properties that previously housed elementary schools, and was vacated with the building of the new North Royalton Elementary School, on State Road. Land preservation group, West Creek Conservancy, placed a bid for the fifteen-acre property during a public auction that took place in late May. Don Filips inducted into the NEO Baseball Coaches Assn.

North Royalton City Schools’ Coach Don Filips was inducted into the Northeast Ohio Baseball Coaches Association (NEOBCA) Hall of Fame on June 15 at Canal Park in downtown Akron.  It took place before the final All-Star Game. Coach Filips built the North Royalton Bears into a baseball powerhouse during his 14 years as head coach (1994 - 2007).  Coach Filips’ 243 wins are the most in school history.  He also holds the record for winning percentage (career 64% and season 93%), most wins in a season (28) and most consecutive wins (24) to start a season.
