Smile! City considers installing cameras
License plate reading cameras were the topic of discussion at the North Royalton City Council’s November 16 Safety Committee meeting. A presentation was given by the firm Flock Safety, a firm that started in Atlanta in 2017. These cameras are currently being used in Brunswick, Brooklyn, Independence and Westlake. According to North Royalton Police Chief Keith Tarase, the North Royalton Police Department did test a plate reader that was installed in one of the squad cars about five years ago, but he said that it didn’t really work well. Volunteers pack 2000 boxes for Operation Christmas Child
The parking lot at Royal Redeemer Lutheran Church was fairly packed on Saturday, November 13. That was the first clue something exciting was taking place. A once-a-year activity had dozens and dozens of would-be elves opening red and green shoe boxes and filling them with treasures and love. It was the annual Operation Christmas Child (OCC) shoe box stuffing celebration. The excitement flowed from one room where notes of encouragement were being penned to the large community room where tables of items were laid out ready for selection as part of a gift to a child far from North Royalton. Another superior year for the NRHS Marching Band
The North Royalton High School Marching Band showed itself to be one of the best units in Northeast Ohio this year. The band brought home a number of awards by participating in various competitions. Director of Bands at North Royalton High School, David Vitale, said he was pleased with the effort put forth by the students. “We got a plaque of participation from our own band show.
