Plans begin for vacated elementary schools

At the September 13 North Royalton School Board meeting, the Board of Education voted to authorize the district to abate the asbestos from the three vacated elementary school buildings and the demolish two of them. The three schools have been vacated now that the new elementary school is open. Albion Elementary was constructed in 1956 and had additions in 1976 and 1988. Valley Vista originally opened in 1960 and then in 1962 the balance of the building was completed. In 1988 the new addition was dedicated. After ribbon cutting, new North Royalton Elementary School is open

It was a bright sunny day on Saturday, August 28, when the ribbon was cut opening the new North Royalton Elementary School building. The new structure is located at 16400 State Road adjacent to the Cleveland Metroparks Valley Parkway. If you haven’t seen the building, its design is similar to that of the capital letter “E”. There are two playgrounds/courtyards located in the open part of the “E” facing the Metropark. Construction projects ongoing in two sections of Sprague Road

Residents may want to avoid two sections of Sprague Road for the near future, as two projects are taking place. On the east side of Sprague Road, a gas line replacement project is taking place. On the west side of Sprague Road, a reconstruction and widening project is commencing. Last month, Columbia Gas began their gas line replacement project, which runs from State Road and Perl Court/Hoertz Road. That project will affect about 90 residents on Sprague Road directly and a number of motorists.
