Plans are forming to install historical marker at City Green
Plans are being made to officially mark the North Royalton City Green for history. The marker will be located on the City Green at Ridge Road, directly across the street from the North Royalton Historical Society Museum & Home, in the area where the old City Hall was located until 2017. The North Royalton City Council adopted a resolution in May that authorizes the Mayor to accept the donation of the historical marker as a location worthy of identification as a historical site. Council, administration continue to research jail feasibility
The North Royalton Jail continues to be scrutinized by the city’s administration and City Council. They recently discussed the matter at a special Finance Committee meeting on Tuesday, July 14. Mayor Larry Antoskiewicz had announced the closing of the jail on April 29, due to budgetary concerns, but then on June 22, announced that it would remain open pending an opportunity for the Corrections Officers to reduce expenses and increase revenue. Some residents have been concerned about the wildlife in the area and the threat of rabies. It is not unusual to see a coyote in North Royalton, as well as in surrounding communities.
