This year, the North Royalton High School showed a slight increase in the ranks of Ohio High Schools, from 72 last year, to 45 this year, according to the U.S. News and World Report 2025 rankings of public schools. Every year, the national magazine lists the best high schools across the United States and District of Columbia. Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School ranked 20 and Strongsville High School ranked 52.
The U.S. News Best High Schools rankings include data on nearly 18,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia. “In coordination with North Carolina-based RTI International, a global nonprofit social science research firm, U.S. News ranked nearly 18,000 public high schools out of more than 24,000 reviewed. Among other criteria, these public high schools had a 12th grade enrollment of 15 students or greater,” according to U.S. News officials.
Nearly 18,000 schools were ranked on six factors based on their performance on state assessments and how well they prepare students for college, according to US News officials. They base their methodology distribution as follows: 30% College Readiness; 10% College Curriculum Breadth; State Assessment Proficiency, 20%; State Assessment Performance, 20%; 10% Underserved Student Performance; and 10% Graduation Rate.
This year, according to the data collected by U.S. News & World Report, North Royalton High School climbed to 45 in a list containing 903 Ohio high schools. The five top ranked Ohio high schools this year were Walnut Hills High School in Cincinnati, Bexley High School, in Bexley; Ottawa Hills High School in Toledo; Solon High School in Solon and Rocky River High School in Rocky River. The national magazine reviewed public high schools in fifty states and the District of Columbia. “Ohio high school students are assessed in English Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies via Ohio’s State Tests. To graduate, students must earn at least 20 credits in various subjects, learn economics and financial literacy, as well as take two or more semesters of fine arts, according to the Ohio Department of Education.”
North Royalton High School placed an overall score of 93.44 out of 100, an increase from last year’s score of 88.03. That total was ranked due to the following criteria:

Reading Proficiency, 88%
Science Proficiency, 87%
Graduation Rate, > 95.0%
North Royalton High School is ranked 1,173 in the National Rankings, up from 2,113 last year. North Royalton High School is ranked 14 in the Cleveland Metropolitan area, up from 20 last year.
According to the US News data, the total enrollment at the North Royalton High School at the time of this ranking was approximately 1,397 students, which breaks down to 321 to 379 in each of the four grades, nine through twelve. There are 65 full time teachers, down from 70 last year. There are 82.3% White students, 6.7% Asian; 5.2% Hispanic; 4.4% two or more races; 1.4% Black and 0.1% American Indian/Alaska native. Of the gender distribution, 47% of the students are female and 53% male.
According to the report, “U.S. News calculates these values for schools based on student performance on state-required tests and internationally available exams on college-level coursework (AP® and IB exams).” North Royalton High School College Readiness Index score is 43.0 out of 100, up from 35.8 last year. Regarding subject proficiency, North Royalton scored 74 compared to the state average of 40 in Mathematics; 88 compared to the state rating of 60 in Reading and 87 compared to the state average of 60 in Science.
