NRPD Chief reports on 2024-25 Deer Stats

With the recent close of the deer hunting season, the North Royalton numbers are in. With this season’s end, North Royalton Chief of Police, Keith Tarase, reported the 2024-25 season’s update to Council at a recent Council Safety Committee meeting. The Ohio Deer Hunting Season for 2024-25, for archery started on September 14, 2024 and concluded on February 2, 2025, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. Council adds School Resource Officer at St. Albert the Great

Last month, the North Royalton City Council approved legislation to add a fourth School Resource Officer (SRO) to the complement of the North Royalton Police Department. This time, the officer won’t be reporting to the North Royalton School District, but to St. Albert the Great Catholic School. According to Mayor Larry Antoskiewicz, the cost of this SRO, including benefits, will be paid for by St. Albert the Great for the nine months in service to that school. Hall of Fame Wrestler Shawn Nelson returns to NRHS and recalls his high school years

There have been a number of great names in North Royalton High School Wrestling over the years. Included on that list is Shawn Nelson, the current head wrestling coach at the University of Findlay. Nelson returned to North Royalton High School recently to be honored by the school following his induction into the Ohio Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. Nelson was presented with the “Lifetime Service to Wrestling” award. Abbey Road gravity sewer project begins

One of the two sewer projects on Abbey Road has begun. The Gravity Sewer Project has started, while another part of the Wastewater projects, the Sanitary Force Main and Gravity Sewer Improvement Project, has been paused for further review. The remaining project, the Abbey Road Sanitary Force Main Project originally included the conversion of one of the City’s two Wastewater Treatment Plants into a pumping station. At 110 years of age, Emma Kmet is a Supercentenarian

Cleveland’s population was over five-hundred thousand, and it was the sixth largest city in the United States. One injured in Harbour Light condo fire

One North Royalton Resident was injured after a fire broke out at the Harbour Light Condominiums on Abbey Road. The fire took place on Thursday, January 23. North Royalton Fire Department officials reported that the call came in at just after 9 a.m. According to Fire Chief, Bob Chegan, the fire started in the living room, traveled up the stairwell into the second floor. Some residents see 30 percent hike in property tax bill

Many residents, who recently received their 2024 Cuyahoga County Real Estate Tax bills, were shocked to see the new totals due. The increases, some of which were more than 30%, were part of the County’s sexennial reappraisal. According to the Ohio Department of Taxation, “the real property tax is Ohio’s oldest tax.
