Home burglar takes life of family pet

Two North Royalton homes were recently burglarized. One home was broken into and the family pet was shot to death. Both burglaries took place during the day. Police were called to a home on Castle Drive on Friday, November 10, at about 3:30 p.m. The resident came home to find that the house had been ransacked and the family dog, a young German shepherd, had been shot. The house was forcefully entered. Another house on Dogwood Trail was also burglarized the next afternoon. Police do not think the two are related. On October 29, 2017, the final deconsecration service of the North Royalton United Methodist Church (NRUMC) was held with current and former members and pastors. NRUMC was a vital part of the community for 181 years. City seeking funding to further transportation options

The North Royalton City Council unanimously adopted legislation that would authorize the Mayor to submit an application to help promote transportation options that were targeted in the city’s Alternative Transportation Plan. The application asks for $121,000 from the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA) funding through the Transportation for Livable Communities Initiative. The requested funding would extend the multi-use path that runs from Rt. 82, south, to North Akins Road on Bennett Road. Schools and stadium benefit from yummy Taste of NR event

All the ingredients came together to make the seventh annual “Taste of North Royalton” a yummy success. The event held on November 2 at the St. Paul Hellenic Center brought together more than 400 guests which helped benefit the North Royalton Education Foundation and the North Royalton Stadium Foundation. Arson being investigated on Gabriella Drive house

On Thursday morning, October 19, at 8:05 a.m., a call came in to the North Royalton Fire Department regarding a house on Gabriella Drive that was on fire. It is believed that the fire was intentionally set. “Smoke was coming from the eaves,” said North Royalton Fire Chief Bob Chegan. He said that once the Fire Department, Station 2, arrived at 8:08 a.m., they found that multiple fires were set in the home at 10023 Gabriella Drive.
