Council adopts Marijuana legislation

The North Royalton City Council unanimously adopted a measure at its December 5 City Council meeting that would prohibit cannabis operations within its municipal jurisdiction. The ordinance, introduced by Mayor Larry Antoskiewicz, was introduced at the November 21 City Council meeting. On November 7, the Ohio electorate passed a law that, among other things, legalized recreational marijuana. The law took effect on December 7. NRSD deals with bomb threat, later deemed a hoax

On Sunday, December 10, the North Royalton School District was one of many Ohio school districts that received bomb threats via email. In the end, there was no indication of a threat, but a case of swatting. Swatting is the practice of making a prank communication, such as a call, email, or text, “to emergency services in an attempt to bring about the dispatch of a large number of armed police officers to a particular address,” according to Oxford Languages. Illuminated City Green brings Christmas Cheer

North Royalton welcomed Santa Claus and the Holiday Season to the City on Sunday November 26th with the 22nd Annual Christmas Parade and Holiday Lighting Ceremony on the City Green. It had been raining all day, but that did not dampen the spirits of residents and their children. They came to see the parade and excitedly waited for Santa to arrive on the big red fire truck. The North Royalton City Council is discussing a measure that would prohibit cannabis operations within its municipal jurisdiction. The ordinance, introduced by Mayor Larry Antoskiewicz, was introduced at the November 21 City Council meeting. On November 7, the Ohio electorate passed a law that legalizes recreational marijuana. Area chaplains to offer support services to safety forces

On November 21, the North Royalton City Council unanimously approved the appointments of four chaplains that will be serving the North Royalton safety services. The four were introduced at the Council Safety Committee meeting before being approved at the City Council meeting, later that evening. An ordinance was adopted at the November 8 meeting which amended the City’s codified ordinances to include a new section that created the volunteer position of Chaplain of the Safety Forces. City Council eyes new sewer rate schedule

A presentation was given to the City Council Finance Committee at their November 21 meeting on the proposed sewer rates. The presentation was given by Raftelis Financial, which conducted the five-year rate study. The management consulting firm has been working on the study for about fifteen months. The plan includes recommendations for proposed rates for the next five years for the sewer enterprise fund, in order to provide the revenues to support the sewer system. Assistant Superintendent, Melissa Vojta and School Superintendent, Mike Laub, gave a presentation regarding the district’s recent professional development day. Homespun Holiday Lighting set for Sun., Nov. 26

Top off the Thanksgiving weekend by bringing the family to welcome the Christmas season at the City Green on Sunday, November 26, from 4 to 7 p.m., for the Annual Holiday Lighting Ceremony, a tradition that is 22 years old. Mayor and Council President retain seats

The majority of voters in North Royalton have chosen to retain the City’s Administrative and Council positions, according to results of the November 7 election. Most of the City Council wards, however, didn’t have opposition, except for Ward 2. In all three races, the incumbent won. For the position of Mayor, with 62.51% of the vote, Larry Antoskiewicz won over Diane Sacha, with a count of 6922 for Antoskiewicz and 4151 for Sacha. Carrie Cerino’s property once again has a new owner

Could the third time be a charm for Carrie Cerino’s future? The event center and restaurant, located on Ridge between Sprague and Albion roads, closed in February 2020, has another new owner.
