Another Superior Performance – NRHS Marching Band Earns Top Honor at State Finals

The North Royalton High School (NRHS) marching band capped off their successful season by earning a Superior rating at the OMEA State Marching Band Finals in Columbus on Saturday, October 28. Performing their competition show "Fortune Favors the Bold" at Hilliard Bradley High School, the band received the highest rating possible, “Superior,” from the judging panel. Assistant Superintendent Melissa Vojta and Director of Secondary Curriculum and Instruction, Jeff Cicerchi reviewed the state report card rating of the district. St. Albert the Great Parishioners out in community lending a hand

St. Albert the Great’s parishioners took the weekend of October 13 and 14 to be the hands and feet of Jesus, going to where they could lend a hand to spread the gospel by doing good. The Parish Day of Service started eleven years ago with about 400 volunteers spending one Saturday sorting cans of food or clothing at a donation site or doing some outdoor clean up. The North Royalton City Council was given a sneak peek of what the design of the new Senior Center could be. The architects in charge of the design portion of the process are formulating the direction of their design. On October 3, representatives from Makovich and Pusti Architects gave a preliminary presentation to City Council regarding the potential of the upcoming Senior Center and where they are in the design process. St. Albert the Great Catholic Church here in North Royalton gave a special blessing to dogs, cats and other animals on Sunday, October 1, the celebration of Feast of St. Francis of Assisi. The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) recently released the 2023 Ohio School Report Card, which assesses every school district in Ohio. They did note, however, that “report cards are only one part of Ohio’s education story. To get a more complete picture, it is essential to visit schools, talk to educators, parents and students, and review school or district websites.” This year, it updated the star-based system that has been used over the past few years, which replaced a letter grade rating. Sentencing and arrests made for area mail theft

The North Royalton Police Department has recommended that residents pay close attention to their bank accounts and cashed checks, to be sure that the checks were cashed by those who were intended, as residents in North Royalton and in other communities continue to fall victim to check fraud. One North Royalton resident recently reported that he sent his check to pay a credit card bill, but came to find that the check had been altered by thousands of dollars and deposited into a local bank and cashed. The September meeting of the North Royalton Board of Education took place on September 11. The Board approved the 2023-24 appropriation adjustments. City applies for transportation grants

At its September 5 meeting, the North Royalton City Council unanimously adopted an ordinance that authorizes the city to apply for two grants that are funded through the Transportation for Livable Communities Initiative (TLCI). The applications are being submitted to the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA). If granted, would help fund the installation of two sidewalk projects. The first application is in the amount of $229,585.62 for an Implementation Grant for the installation of sidewalks on State Road that would be installed from Wallings Road to Lisa Lane.
