Cyber criminals targeting small business and home computers

Members of the Chamber of Commerce learned more about how to protect themselves and their businesses from cyber attacks and breaches at their monthly luncheon meeting at Carrie Cerino’s Ristorante. A presentation was given by Janet Gehring and Jim Kerr, owner of CRU Solutions, based in Middleburg Heights. Kerr began the presentation, stating that “work used to be a place you go to. North Royalton remembers those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

On Memorial Day, words like respect, duty, honor, sacrifice are used by everyone in the country, not just by those who wear a uniform. North Royalton is one of the few communities in the area that have two Memorial Day ceremonies to honor those soldiers who gave their lives so we might enjoy the freedoms that we have. One ceremony was at the North Royalton Cemetery on Royalton Road.  The other was at the Jeffrey Boskovitch Memorial at the Old City Hall on Ridge Road. North Royalton resident Jerry Parrish was one of several hundred people who came to honor those who served.  “I came o ....

Former resident, FC1 Dan Taylor, named Unsung Hero

It’s rare to find someone as open about their lives - warts and all, so to speak-but at the AEGIS Training and Readiness Center (ATRC), one instructor feels that through his openness, he is helping one Sailor at a time avoid potential pitfalls and be successful in their Navy career and life. Fire Controlman 1st Class Dan Taylor credits organized sports and the Navy as the two key aspects of his life that have kept him on an even keel – that and his grandfather’s (Dan Potopsky, Sr.) words of wisdom. “I started playing organized basketball when I was six at the Catholic Youth Organizat ....

The North Royalton High School baseball team finished their season with a record of 12-15. In the second half, North Royalton won 10 games and lost 6. One of the players who sparked the Bears in the second half was back-up catcher and designated hitter senior, Luke Robinson. “In a two-week stretch in May, Luke had 12 hits, including four doubles and batted over .500,” said North Royalton baseball coach Brad K ....

Royalton Recorder marks 75 years of documenting life in North Royalton (Years 1986 – 1988)

1986 - The North Royalton school district was hoping the voters would approve a 4.75 mil, two-year levy on February 4. The school district expected a $1.5 million short fall for the 1986 – 87 school year. The fully accredited school system with innovative nationally recognized programs takes years to develop. Once cutting of essential maintenance, essential and special programs begins there is no way to catch up. There was no tax increase since 1980 and revenue had fallen due to inflation, increases in insurance coverage, cost of supplies, maintenance, and low state funding. The School Board ....
