CERT holds joint exercise with neighboring communities

Superintendent Gurka addresses Chamber members on school bond issue

The September meeting of the North Royalton Chamber of Commerce was held on September 21. North Royalton School Superintendent, Greg Gurka, addressed the group on the upcoming school bond issue, which supports a facilities plan and maintenance. The total cost of the project will be $94,837,207, with $4,536,267 being supplied by the State of Ohio Facilities Construction Commission and $1,400,940 being supplied through local funding. Lead discovered in some school water fountains

The North Royalton School District participated in a new program to test drinking water throughout the district. The district tested the drinking water in accordance with a process that was outlined by the State of Ohio. One hundred twenty two drinking fountains and faucets at the North Royalton High School, Albion Elementary School, Valley Vista Elementary School and Royal View Elementary were tested at the end of August. “Unintentional Drug Overdose is now the leading cause of injury related death in Cuyahoga County. Local heroin use is not only on the rise, it is taking lives at unprecedented levels. Farm Tour with Concert and Harvest Fest promise residents two days of good old-fashioned fun

The 14th Annual Harvest Fest is taking on a different twist this year. The celebration will be spread out over two days Saturday. September 24, and Sunday, September 25. Coberly leads Bears on and off the gridiron

North Royalton Bears senior tight end/defensive end Nick Coberly can be easily found when on the football field. At 6-ft., 4-in., 195 pounds, Coberly towers over smaller defensive backs who try to guard him on pass plays. On defense, Nick plays at the end of the defensive line, either side. City studies state’s new medical marijuana law

On June 8, Ohio Governor John Kasich signed House Bill 523 into law, making Ohio the 25th state to adopt a medical marijuana law. With that, local communities have been placing a moratorium on that law, in order to review it and see how it may impact their communities. North Royalton Mayor Bob Stefanik recently said that North Royalton will do the same, and introduce a measure that would place a moratorium on the bill, in order to allow city leaders and the city’s law department, opportune time to research the bill and its potential impact on the city. New school district theme announced to kick off beginning of new school year
