Lead discovered in some school water fountains

The North Royalton School District participated in a new program to test drinking water throughout the district. The district tested the drinking water in accordance with a process that was outlined by the State of Ohio. One hundred twenty two drinking fountains and faucets at the North Royalton High School, Albion Elementary School, Valley Vista Elementary School and Royal View Elementary were tested at the end of August. Heroin in the suburbs on the rise

“Unintentional Drug Overdose is now the leading cause of injury related death in Cuyahoga County. Local heroin use is not only on the rise, it is taking lives at unprecedented levels. According to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner, heroin is now the most commonly-abused drug associated with overdose deaths in Cuyahoga County. With fewer pills on the street, heroin has become a cheaper alternative for abusers. Farm Tour with Concert and Harvest Fest promise residents two days of good old-fashioned fun

The 14th Annual Harvest Fest is taking on a different twist this year. The celebration will be spread out over two days Saturday. September 24, and Sunday, September 25. North Royalton residents are being encouraged to check out and support what Mayor Bob Stefanik is calling the “hidden gems” of the city. Those “hidden gems” making up the farm tour are the local farms/farmers markets that bring fresh fruits and vegetables from their fields to your kitchen table. Coberly leads Bears on and off the gridiron

North Royalton Bears senior tight end/defensive end Nick Coberly can be easily found when on the football field. At 6-ft., 4-in., 195 pounds, Coberly towers over smaller defensive backs who try to guard him on pass plays. On defense, Nick plays at the end of the defensive line, either side. And if you notice #7 on the North Royalton sidelines, Coberly will be walking the bench area, constantly talking to his teammates, keeping their spirits high. City studies state’s new medical marijuana law

On June 8, Ohio Governor John Kasich signed House Bill 523 into law, making Ohio the 25th state to adopt a medical marijuana law. With that, local communities have been placing a moratorium on that law, in order to review it and see how it may impact their communities. North Royalton Mayor Bob Stefanik recently said that North Royalton will do the same, and introduce a measure that would place a moratorium on the bill, in order to allow city leaders and the city’s law department, opportune time to research the bill and its potential impact on the city. New school district theme announced to kick off beginning of new school year

For more than 32,000 of us, this is a true statement - North Royalton is my home! The one event during the year that brings out more of our residents than any other is our annual community festival. The North Royalton High School football season begins on Friday night, August 26, at Serpentini Chevrolet Stadium against North Ridgeville. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m. At the recent “Media Day” held for football teams in the Suburban League, North Royalton Head Football Coach Nick Ciulli gave the Royalton Recorder a sneak peek into his 2016 Varsity team. “This group is focused and has been together more than we have had in the past couple of years,” said Coach Ciulli. “It’s a very coachable group and they have bought in. Perfect “Dog Day of Summer” for 11th annual Pet Carnival

It was the nicest day of summer. That is what Dick Goddard, Channel 8 weather Guru and all time ‘Olympic’ supporter of the APL and all things good for our four legged friends, forecasted on Friday’s Goddard’s Dogs. True to Dick Goddard’s word, Sunday, August 7, was the nicest day of summer. Temperatures were not too high, low humidity, nice breeze and lots and lots of pets with people were having a great time at the eleventh annual Pet Carnival on the North Royalton City Green.
