North Royalton City Schools use of a Therapy Dog is approved

The North Royalton City Schools (NRCS) and the City of North Royalton have entered into a memorandum of understanding, accepting an addendum regarding the School Resource Officers, permitting the use of a therapy dog. The North Royalton City Council unanimously adopted legislation at its June 6 meeting that authorizes the Mayor to enter into the agreement. School Board sends legislative platform to Ohio School Board

The North Royalton Board of Education agreed to send a legislative platform to the Ohio School Board Association (OSBA) in the hopes to have the items integrated into their platform, which is amended each year. The North Royalton School District is a member of the state school board. Ohio enacts Distracted Driving Law

In the State of Ohio, as of April 4, the law prohibits drivers to hold a cell phone or electronic device in your hand, lap or other parts of the body while driving. Those seen violating this law can be pulled over. According to the Ohio Department of Public Safety, “drivers over 18 years old can make or receive calls via hands-free devices, including: speaker phone, earpiece, wireless headset, electronic watch, connecting phone to vehicle. Safety Fair is a fun and educational day for all

The 2023 North Royalton Safety Fair sponsored by NR Fire Department got off to a wet start, but the rain moved out and the sun came out to shine on everyone at the Safety Fair. There were firefighters’ hats, stickers of all kinds, small equipment bags, popcorn, beverages, and, of course, hot dogs. Everyone under the shelter of the fire station became part of STEM, (Safety Themed Event Member). If some locations around North Royalton look a bit cleaner, ready to welcome in the spring weather, they should. Thirty-six locations around North Royalton received some tender loving care and attention from more than 260 members of Royal Redeemer Lutheran Church the weekend of May 5 and 6. It was the annual Servant Weekend. After a hearty breakfast, volunteers headed out to their assigned locations. New position leads to added programs

The creation of a new position in the North Royalton Police Department (NRPD) has led to the creation of new programs that are designed to bring the NRPD and the community closer together. North Royalton hosts End of Vietnam War ceremony

On Sunday, April 15, the City of North Royalton hosted a ceremony at Memorial Park that marked the 48th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War. Each year, a different community hosts the event with the Vietnam Veterans Of America, West Shore Chapter 249 and the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 15. Council approves expansion of Stormwater Grant Program

The North Royalton City Council has again voted to expand a current grant program that allows home owners associations to apply for grants in order to help subsidize stormwater-related projects that are deemed to be a nuisance. Last month, Council voted to increase the scope of the program, increasing the maximum amount a resident could apply for reimbursement.
