NOPEC mails residents enrollment letters

Residents who have not elected to contract their electric provider elsewhere should be receiving a letter from NOPEC regarding NOPEC electric enrollment. Also, those residents who have not contracted a gas supplier elsewhere will also receive a letter on the NOPEC natural gas enrollment. Residents receiving letters do not need to do anything if they wish to remain in the NOPEC aggregation programs. If they wish to utilize another supplier, they must respond by mail, or by faxing the opt-out form to 440-774-4422, or call NOPEC’s Customer Care Center at 855-667-3201 to opt out of the program. ....

Council discusses lengthening and staggering terms

City Council began discussion on the possibility of extending the number of terms City Council members can serve and also staggering the Council terms. The initial discussion took place at a recent Council Rules and Ordinances Committee meeting. If a change is determined, the measure would go to the voters under the form of a charter amendment. Council members to receive City Cell Phones

Members of City Council recently received city-owned cell phones in order to continue communication with their constituents, as well as make it easier to adhere to the State’s public records laws. Council President Paul Marnecheck said that there has been discussion for about a year about making the phones available. “This all began with the use of action forms,” said Marnecheck. “They used to be a fillable document. Deer statistics have not changed much from last year

With the recent close of the deer hunting season, the North Royalton numbers are in. City is one step closer to receiving major grant

The City of North Royalton recently received notification from the State on a major grant that will be used for the Abbey Road Sanitary Force Main and Gravity Sewer Improvement Project. The project is estimated to cost about $20,000,000. The notification was received on March 23, stating that the City’s application has been selected to move forward to the next level for the grant. The project would include the conversion of one of the City’s two Wastewater Treatment Plants into a pumping station. City Council revisits food truck legislation

Council is once again discussing changes in the legislation that addresses mobile food units, commonly known as food trucks. The March meeting of the North Royalton Board of Education took place on Monday, March 13. Board member, Heidi Dolezal was absent. The Board approved the all-day kindergarten fees for the 2023-24 school year at $2,500 per year, which was increased from $2,100, the previous year. School District plans facilities project improvements

Recently, North Royalton School Superintendent Mike Laub gave an update to the North Royalton School Board on a number of improvement projects that are taking place throughout the District’s facilities and grounds. NR Stadium Foundation donates $370,000 for stadium renovations

At the March 13 North Royalton Board of Education meeting, members of the North Royalton Stadium Foundation presented a check for $370,000 to be used for upcoming stadium renovations. The renovation project will include the full replacement of the turf playing surface. This project will begin on May 31, 2023, and will be completed in time for the upcoming fall season.
