North Royalton High School bands finish 2022 on a Superior note

During the last few months, the North Royalton High School Band has been hard at work.  They concluded their marching band season performing at the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) State Finals in Columbus, where they received a superior rating.  This huge accomplishment is the result of months of practice to get their show titled “Carpe Diem” to the best level - and earning the highest rating possible from the panel of adjudicators.  Throughout the marching season, the band earned such honors as Best Overall Visual Effect, Best Overall Auxiliary, and Grand Champion Overall. First Responders complete training event

For those in the area of the North Royalton Elementary School who were wondering what the commotion was about during the holiday break, they can rest, assured that it was nothing terrible. NRPD completes lease of ten traffic cameras

North Royalton City Council has approved the lease of the Flock cameras at their December 20 meeting. Council introduced the legislation at its December 6 meeting to allow for the lease and installation of ten surveillance cameras. The ordinance was adopted six to one, introduced by Ward 6 Council Mike Wos and Ward 4 Council Jeremy Dietrich and co-sponsored by Ward 1 Council Rep John Nickell, authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with Flock Safety for cameras, installation and services for the North Royalton Police Department, for an amount not to exceed $28,500.00. Former Carrie Cerino’s property has new owners

The former Carrie Cerino’s Ristorante and Party Center has once again been purchased. This time, the property was purchased by MAHA Laxmi 8922, Incorporated, a family of area business owners. Carrie Cerino’s is located at 8922 Ridge Road in North Royalton. Carrie Cerino’s, closed abruptly on February 18, 2020. It was owned by the Cerino family since 1963. North Royalton High School staff celebrated their students’ first quarter success in person and with their families on Thursday, November 17 in the new Community Room. Families were treated to a continental breakfast. Teachers nominated students in four categories (Achievement, Character, Engagement, and Leadership).They recognized these students and wrote personal nominations as to why they deserved their awards. The North Royalton Board of Education held their December meeting on Monday, December 12 Assistant Superintendent, Melissa Vojta, gave an update about an elementary reading program. The cheerleading coach also gave a presentation regarding the program. The Board authorized the Treasurer to request advances on the 2023 tax settlements. Miss North Royalton turned Mrs. Ohio advocates against addiction

Stephanie Brode (nee Shoop) captivated the City of North Royalton in 2012 as she became Miss North Royalton. She continued her journey of pageantry until she synched the title of Mrs. Ohio American this past June at the Knox County Theater in Mount Vernon, Ohio. She plans to use her title to raise awareness for the Drug Epidemic through the first annual Cardinal Crew 5k Race. Wreaths Across America volunteers place wreaths on Veterans’ graves to honor their service

When you drive past the cemetery on Royalton Road, take a quick peek at the green wreaths placed at many of the graves. At 12 noon on December 17, dozens of volunteers gathered to place green wreaths with red ribbons on the graves of those men and women who have served in this nation’s military. NRPD Officers complete 40-hour CIT training

Like many other professions, police officers undergo additional training throughout their career, which keep them updated on the law and societal circumstances. The North Royalton Police Department is no different, with ongoing training that may vary from year to year. Police Chief Keith Tarase said that there are various types of training, such as use of force, legal updates, officer personal wellness, responding to sexual assault, domestic violence.
