City School District releases 2022 Strategic Plan

The newest Strategic Plan of the North Royalton City Schools was recently released. Residents are warned of new scam alert

The North Royalton Police Department (NRPD) recently posted a new fraud scheme that has been circulating of late. They recommend that residents be alerted to the circumstance. According to the NRPD post, “a very convincing person calls up an unsuspecting victim and advises them that there is suspicious activity on their ATM card/account. The suspect has some of the person’s account information, which lends an air of credibility to their scheme. They advise that they will suspend the person’s card and issue new ones. The North Royalton Board of Education held their October meeting on Monday, October 10. Assistant Superintendent, Melissa Vojta and Director of Secondary Curriculum and Instruction, Jeff Cicerchi, gave a presentation on the state report card. How Police and Schools address school threats

Rumors of drugs and a gun were reportedly circulating at the North Royalton Middle School and then on social media in early October, which led to an investigation and threat assessment. City Council votes to raise sewer rates

City Council passed an ordinance at its October 4 meeting that will raise the sanitary sewer rate charges for 2023 only. This comes on the heels of the previous five-year rate schedule, which ends in December. The new rates for 2023 are being raised by 4.2% Normally, the City hires a consultant to produce a five-year study of rates, which is the basis of recommendation. City approves contract for new Senior Center design

The City of North Royalton has approved a contract for the new senior center at the old Royal View Elementary School with FMC Architects LLC and Frank Castrovillari, who is the founder and President. Castrovillari has served as a Board member on the City’s Board of Zoning Appeals, Planning Commission and Architectural Review Board. Schools are graded on State report card

The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) recently released the 2022 Ohio School Report Card for all districts in the state of Ohio. The State Report Card is one way to measure our educational system. The data used by the ODE analyzes performance of each district and is broken down into six components: Achievement, Progress, Early Literacy, Gap Closing, Graduation and College, Career, Workforce and Military Readiness. City to increase jail rates for 2023

The North Royalton City Council unanimously adopted an ordinance that will raise the charges for both annual and per diem rental of the City’s jail cells for 2023. According to the ordinance, “the annual rate to be charged for 2023 be fixed at Sixty-Three Thousand Eight Hundred Seventy-Five Dollars ($63,875) per jail cell bed and that the per diem rate be fixed at Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) per jail cell bed.” Currently, the City has the cities of Parma Heights, Broadview Heights, Brecksville and Berea under contract.
