The North Royalton Board of Education held their December meeting on Monday, December 12 Assistant Superintendent, Melissa Vojta, gave an update about an elementary reading program. The cheerleading coach also gave a presentation regarding the program. The Board authorized the Treasurer to request advances on the 2023 tax settlements. The Board approved the following 2022-23 appropriation adjustments: 516 IDEA Part B from $1,208,142.74 to $1,208,843.27; 272 Title I-A, from $380,388.56 to $381,828.20; 584 Title IV-A, from $28,008.36 to $28,053.50; and 590 Title II-A, from $89,336.23 to $90, ....

Miss North Royalton turned Mrs. Ohio advocates against addiction

Stephanie Brode (nee Shoop) captivated the City of North Royalton in 2012 as she became Miss North Royalton. She continued her journey of pageantry until she synched the title of Mrs. Ohio American this past June at the Knox County Theater in Mount Vernon, Ohio. She plans to use her title to raise awareness for the Drug Epidemic through the first annual Cardinal Crew 5k Race. Stephanie began her journey through pageantry when she was only ten years old when she entered the Sweetheart North Royalton Pageant. Wreaths Across America volunteers place wreaths on Veterans’ graves to honor their service

When you drive past the cemetery on Royalton Road, take a quick peek at the green wreaths placed at many of the graves. At 12 noon on December 17, dozens of volunteers gathered to place green wreaths with red ribbons on the graves of those men and women who have served in this nation’s military. Wreaths Across America has grown since 1992 when Morrill Worchester, wreath maker from Maine, had 5000 extra holiday wreaths placed on graves at Arlington Cemetery in tribute to the sacrifices made by the men and women and their families, who served in our nation’s military. NRPD Officers complete 40-hour CIT training

Like many other professions, police officers undergo additional training throughout their career, which keep them updated on the law and societal circumstances. The North Royalton Police Department is no different, with ongoing training that may vary from year to year. Police Chief Keith Tarase said that there are various types of training, such as use of force, legal updates, officer personal wellness, responding to sexual assault, domestic violence. Council approves Solar Energy Regulations to Code

The North Royalton City Council unanimously adopted legislation at its December 6 meeting to add regulations for the use and installation of solar energy systems. The legislation was introduced by Ward 1 Council Rep John Nickell, Ward 5 Council Rep Dawn Carbone-McDonald, Ward 3 Council Rep Joanne Krejci and co-sponsored by Council President Paul Marnecheck. The amendment to the city’s codified ordinances took place after a resident, who wanted to add a solar panel as a secondary source of energy, asked Council how to install it within the law. Diners return to Royal Redeemer for “Care & Share” Thanksgiving Dinner

It was “Back to the Past” for the 31st annual Care-n-Share Thanksgiving Dinner orchestrated by the Royal Redeemer Lutheran Church in North Royalton. Turkeys were cooked and prepared. Side dishes and gravy were served. Drivers were on hand to deliver dinner and provide faith and fellowship. For some shut-ins, the delivery drivers may have been their only visitors on Thanksgiving Day. That’s sad, but the drivers were happy that they were there to provide even a few minutes of fellowship to those who might be alone on Thanksgiving. First Responders plan training event

Violators of Stop for School Bus Law may face jail time

Even though the laws in North Royalton have been strengthened regarding drivers stopping for school buses that are picking up or dropping off children, the numbers of those disregarding the law seems to be increasing. North Royalton Law Director Tom Kelly noted that at a recent Council Safety Committee meeting, that North Royalton Police Chief Keith Tarase mentioned that in the past month or so, there have been nine more citations issued for school bus violations.
