W. 130th water main break creates a large sinkhole

A water main break took place on Tuesday, June 21, on West 130th Street between Drake Road and Bennett’s Corners, near Tradewinds, in Ward 5. The break took place at about 2 a.m. Ward 5 Council Representative Dawn Carbone-McDonald said that the break caused flooding for some residents in the area and caused a large sinkhole in the roadway. The roadway was then closed between Drake and Hunt Roads. There was a no boil alert issued by the City of Cleveland, Division of Water. North Royalton Sports Hall of Fame opens its doors to three new members

During the North Royalton High School Sports Awards Banquet, induction ceremonies were held for the NR Athletic Hall of Fame class of 2022. The three new members are Frank Calarco, who graduated in 2010, Nicole Hudek, a 2011 graduate of North Royalton High School, and Christine Siliko Brosky, who graduated in 1982. Frank was a member of the North Royalton Wrestling team. Building Commissioner resigns to accept Parma position

North Royalton Building Commissioner Dan Kulchytsky has announced his resignation, effective June 30. His resignation was reported by Mayor Larry Antoskiewicz at the June 7 City Council meeting. “I was originally from Parma and I still live in Parma,” noted Kulchytsky. “The Building Commissioner for the City of Parma is resigning and this position will give me the opportunity to try new things and also to face different challenges, but I think I’m up for it. Ohio House passes Transgender Bill

Earlier this month, the 134th General Assembly Ohio House of Representative passed legislation to ban transgender girls and women from playing college and high school women’s sports. Ohio House Bill 151, passed 56 to 28. If passed in the Senate and signed by the Governor, this would affect the policies of the Ohio High School Athletic Association, the National Collegiate Athletic Association and the National Junior College Athletic Association, who do currently have policies that allow for transgender athletes to participate in women’s sports. Seniors attend Commencement full of happiness, hope and anticipation

It is June 3, 2022, 5:15 p.m. All students have reported to Gym 1 of the high school. This is it! Varsity baseball team wins District Final, heads to “Sweet 16”

The North Royalton Varsity Baseball team is heading back to the “Sweet 16” in the OHSAA Division One State Baseball Tournament. In an exciting District Final game on May 26, at Talty Field at Brookside Reservation, the Bears defeated Avon 5-4 in 11 innings. North Royalton will play Kenston High School in the Regional Semi-finals at Louisville High School in Stark County on Thursday, June 2. Seniors party at prom, graduate, and prepare for next phase of life

Big gold balloon 2022 numerals stood at least five feet high in the entrance to the North Royalton High School prom held this year at the Weymouth Country Club in Medina. It is the first prom in two years that has been held in the elegance of an indoor venue. The members of the senior class and their guests enjoyed an evening of dinner and dancing as their four-year high school adventure quickly draws to a close.
