Council approves position of Planner in Building Dept.

A new position is in the process of being added to the city ranks as a result of a revamping of the North Royalton Building Department. Mayor Larry Antoskiewicz introduced legislation at the May 4 City Council meeting that would add the position of Planner to the Building Department. Antoskiewicz said that “it’s really part of a re-organization of everything. Part of what I want to do, since we got a new Engineer, we did some self-analysis. North Royalton City Schools announced the Teacher of the Year and Support Staff Person of the Year. The Teacher of the Year is Cheri Rourke, who is a first-grade teacher at Royal View Elementary School. Schools announce winners of the Crystal Starfish Award

During the week of April 12, North Royalton City Schools announced the winners of this year’s Crystal Starfish Award presented by First Federal of Lakewood. At Valley Vista Elementary School, Counselor Dana Kesselem was presented with the Crystal Starfish Teacher Award. Besides the award, she also received a $250 Professional Development Grant from First Federal of Lakewood. Kesselem was nominated by two parents. Royal Redeemer hosts ‘Servant Saturday’ event

For many people, the pandemic has only strengthened their desire to reach out and lend a hand to those in need. For the third time since the pandemic started, the community of Royal Redeemer Lutheran Church has come together to perform service projects in North Royalton and surrounding suburbs. Council looks at Charter Issue options

The North Royalton City Council introduced two pieces of legislation that would potentially place charter change issues on the November ballot. A third option was also discussed and dismissed in a Council committee meeting. Ward 4 Councilman Jeremy Dietrich serves as the Chairman for the Council Review and Oversight Committee. Ward 5 Councilman Vince Weimer and Council President, Paul Marnecheck also serve on that committee. County publishes Community Data Book

The Cuyahoga County Planning Commission released “Our Communities: the 2021 Data Book,” which “provides insights into the communities that comprise Cuyahoga County,” according to County officials. “It is intended to be used by local governments, community organizations, and others interested in learning more about our communities. City receives Electric Charging Station grant

The City of North Royalton recently received two grant notifications to install two electric vehicle charging ports in North Royalton. The first port will be located at the North Royalton YMCA location on Wallings Road. This grant comes from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). It will be located on the western side of the YMCA. Mayor names Lt. Keith Tarase new NRPD Chief

Lieutenant Keith Tarase has been chosen by Mayor Larry Antoskiewicz as the new North Royalton Chief of Police, replacing Ken Bilinovich, who retired on April 2.
