The City of North Royalton is looking to convert one of the city’s two Wastewater Treatment Plants into a pumping station. This conversion is expected to ultimately save the city money, while operating a more efficient system. Currently, the city has Wastewater Treatment Plant “A,” located on Royalton Road, which treats mostly the southern section of the city, and Wastewater Treatment Plant “B,” located on Sprague Road, which treats most of the northern section. The northeast portion of the city is treated by the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District. A resolution was unanimous ....

Frigid weather causes increase in water main breaks

Water main breaks are unpredictable, although a big factor is weather. The colder the weather is for an extended period of time; the more water main breaks seem to occur. Breaks can also occur when there is a sudden increase in water pressure in a water main, such as when a fire hydrant is closed too suddenly. So far, 2021 has not been kind in this regard, as it has been reported that about sixteen breaks have occurred since the beginning of this year. “This last couple months, we’ve had numerous breaks,” said Mayor Larry Antoskiewicz. He adds that the “Cleveland Water Department ....

UH assistant manager wins game ticket of a lifetime

When Catherine Wilson received an email at work alerting her that she had won a free ticket to Super Bowl LV, she figured it was spam and quickly deleted it. But it was no prank. Together with the Cleveland Browns, University Hospitals had selected three local health care heroes to be the team’s special guests at the Feb. 7 Super Bowl in Tampa Bay and Wilson was one of them, al ....

Greek Orthodox Church finding ways to bring parishioners together

Eleni Johnson of St. Paul Greek Orthodox Church remembers March 8, 2020, very well. It was, unbeknownst to anyone at the Wallings Road church, the last time the large youth ministry population would see each other again before the pandemic changed everything. “When the kids left Sunday School and dance practice, the whole world shut down that week,” Johnson reflected. “Many of them haven’t been back. Youth ministries have either been postponed or turned to Zoom.” Now, almost a year later, Johnson, who serves as Hellenic Dance director and co-adviser for Greek Orthodox Youth of Am ....
