Council makes budget adjustments due to Coronavirus

On May 5, the North Royalton City Council held a special Finance Committee meeting to discuss budget adjustments with Mayor Larry Antoskiewicz. These adjustments were necessary due to the financial impact from COVID-19. Covid-19 has robbed graduating seniors of many things, but it’s the sense of closure and the absence of a proper good-bye that hurts the most. Seniors didn’t know it at the time, but March 12 was the last day they would ever walk the hallways of North Royalton High School together, and akin to mourners at a funeral, seniors here and everywhere are grieving a sudden and heavy loss. School district construction is progressing

At the April 13 School Board meeting, Assistant Superintendent Jim Presot presented an update on the progress of the construction at the various district facilities. School Superintendent Gurka noted that “construction at both our elementary site and our high school site are continuing. School construction has been deemed an essential business. Rite Aid building razed to make room for Chase Bank

The building that previously housed Rite Aid has now been demolished and the beginning of construction of something new can be seen. The Rite Aid property, which is located at the corner of Royalton Road and State Road is where this has been taking place, and will be changing from a retail store to the home of a bank. Rite Aid vacated the property when they closed down that store’s location last year. Rite Aid was built in 1997 on the 1.37 acre parcel. North Royalton City Schools dropped from EdChoice voucher program

The North Royalton School District recently learned that they will be taken off the list of Ohio school districts that were mandated to participate in the state’s EdChoice Voucher Program. Last year, with the adoption of the state’s biennium budget, it included a change in its EdChoice scholarship program that has added the North Royalton District, as well as other well-to-do districts to their program.
