NR City Schools’ Bus Driver Bruce Abbott Named Ohio Bus Driver of the Year

Bruce Abbott, a bus driver for North Royalton City Schools, has been named the Ohio Bus Driver of the Year. The George Sontag Jr. Ohio Bus Driver of the Year Award recognizes bus drivers who exhibit outstanding leadership and professional conduct in the school transportation field, both in the district they represent as well as in the State of Ohio. “We are very proud of Bruce and congratulate him on this honor,” said Superintendent Greg Gurka, North Royalton City Schools. “He is a wonderful representation of all the outstanding people who work in our transportation department.” Bru ....

Huntington Bank at North Royalton Giant Eagle is robbed
At about 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19, North Royalton Police were called to the Huntington Bank, located inside the North Royalton Giant Eagle, where a robbery was reported. According to North Royalton Police Detective, David Loeding, the suspect displayed a note to the teller, which read “give me all the money. The North Royalton Boys Basketball team had set Goal Number One when their off-season workouts took place during the summer months. The Goal: To win the Suburban League National Conference Championship. On February 14, the team was able to say “Mission Accomplished!” In front of a packed house at the Herman L. City to sell old compost facility property

Council squashes Cell Tower Proposal
A proposal to place a cell tower on city-owned property has been squashed. The measure, introduced at the December 3 City Council meeting, ended with the legislation being withdrawn at the February 18 City Council Meeting by Council President Paul Marnecheck. The proposal for a lease agreement with the city was brought to City Hall in December by Cellco Partnership, doing business as Verizon Wireless.
