Spring clean by using the three “R’s,” Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

With spring just around the corner, turn your attention to spring cleaning. The city has made that task a bit easier with its introduction last year of simple recycling, which will collect your soft recyclable materials, such as clothes and small household items. All residents need to do is to place the items in the orange bags that have been provided and take it to the curb on the normal rubbish days. Number of white tailed deer is slowly declining

The numbers are in for the latest deer hunting season. The Ohio Deer Hunting Season for 2018-19, for archery started on September 29, 2018 and concluded on February 3, 2019, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. With this season’s end, North Royalton Chief of Police, Ken Bilinovich reported the 2018-19 season’s update to the Council Safety Committee at their meeting on February 19. Markie Michalke represents NRHS at OMEA All-State Ensembles

One of the many highlights that focus on student performance are the OMEA All-State Ensembles for band, choir, jazz band and orchestra. More than 1,000 high school students from all across Ohio submitted applications and recorded auditions in May of 2018 in hopes of being selected to perform with these prestigious ensembles. North Royalton High School was represented by one high school band member - senior Markie Michalke (trumpet). The North Royalton Board of Education’s monthly School Board meeting took place on Monday, February 11. The meeting began with the singing of the National Anthem by Valley Vista fourth grade students, who will also be performing at an upcoming Lake Erie Monsters game. Open house aims to breathe new life into service club participation

Family of NRHS alumna reaches out in their time of need

A parent’s love is uncompromised. Erin (Luckas) Brown, a 2003 graduate of North Royalton High School, and her husband, Jeff, have been undergoing lab testing and bloodwork since September to discover if either one of them would be a good match to donate a kidney to help save their son’s life. The couple’s son, Lukas, 21 months old, was born in 2017 with end-stage kidney disease. At birth, it was learned that Lukas’ kidneys were functioning at just 20 percent. City and Metroparks Reveal New Park Plans

Residents gathered at City Hall to hear about the proposed plan to add another recreational opportunity in North Royalton. Mayor Bob Stefanik, Community Development Director Tom Jordan, and Cleveland Metroparks Officials presented proposed plans for the Elek Spring property. The City of North Royalton is partnering with the Cleveland Metroparks on the project, which will ultimately link the city-owned Elek Park property to the Metroparks. Council discusses short-term rentals

North Royalton City Council is again discussing short-term rentals, after legislation was introduced at the February 5 Council meeting. The proposed ordinance was introduced by Council President Larry Antoskiewicz and Ward 3 Councilman Dan Langshaw. Last fall, the North Royalton City Council adopted an ordinance placing a moratorium on the operation of short-term residential real estate rentals, such as Airbnb. The moratorium prohibits the operation of any short term rental for any amount less than 30 days, of residential real estate. The moratorium legislation was introduced by Council ....

Community invited for State of the Schools Address and report on facility building progress

Later this month, the North Royalton School District, in conjunction with the North Royalton Chamber of Commerce, will host a meeting highlighting the State of the Schools/State of the Construction. The meeting will not only give an accounting of the state of the district, but also on the progress of the district’s facility project.
