The March meeting of the North Royalton Board of Education took place on Wednesday, March 13. Board member Lisa Shuck was absent. The Board nominated Jackie Arendt for the Ohio School Board Association’s Recognition Award. Assistant Superintendent, Melissa Vojta gave an update from the Curriculum and Instruction and Teaching and Learning Team on the K-12 curriculum alignment. Council and administration talk trash options

Over the past few weeks, Mayor Larry Antoskiewicz and the North Royalton City Council have been discussing the options for rubbish/recycling removal. The current contract with Rumpke Waste and Recycling Services will expire on May 1. Council originally discussed the options with the Mayor after the bid openings on February 28 produced only one bidder, Rumpke. Council eyes addition of more surveillance cameras

The addition of a number of cameras was a topic of discussion at the North Royalton City Council’s March 20 Safety Committee meeting, with the additional cameras being more than just plate reading. North Royalton Police Chief Keith Tarase proposed the addition of five cameras to the City’s ten Flock Falcon cameras. North Royalton City Council had approved the lease of ten Flock cameras in December, 2022. With the recent close of the deer hunting season, the North Royalton numbers are in. With this season’s end, North Royalton Chief of Police, Keith Tarase, reported the 2023-24 season’s update to Council at a recent Council Safety Committee meeting. The North Royalton Board of Education’s monthly School Board meeting took place on Thursday, February 15. The Board appointed Superintendent Michael Laub, or his designee, as the Board’s Hearing Officer for all suspension hearings and expulsions. Happy 109th Birthday, Emma Kmet

Still Graceful and Still Grateful at 109 In a much simpler time, a rag doll named Raggedy Ann was patented and the novel, "Alice In Wonderland,” was adapted for the Silent Screen. West 130th travelers being detoured by bridge work

The West 130 Bridge project began on Thursday, February 15. The project includes the replacement of the bridge over the Rocky River, which is located just south of Valley Parkway, on West 130 Street. The Ruhlin Company, Cuyahoga County’s contractor for the project, announced that the closure of the area around the bridge is expected to be about 210 days, into September. During that time, West 130th Street will be closed to through traffic between Drake and Edgerton Roads.
