The April meeting of the North Royalton Board of Education took place on Thursday, April 11.
Assistant Superintendent Melissa Vojta gave a presentation on the Math and English Arts curriculum review, committee findings and recommendations.
The Board approved the following tax budget for the next succeeding fiscal year, commencing January 1, 2025, to be levied within and without the ten-mill limitation as follows:
General Fund Inside, 5.00; General Fund Outside, 53.90; Total General Fund, 58.90; Permanent Improvement Fund Inside, 1.00; Permanent Improvement Fund Outside, .50; Bond Retirement Fund, 4.30; Grand Total, 64.70.
The Board approved the following 2023-24 appropriation adjustments: 451 Data Communication, from $5,400 to $5,854.29; 516 Idea-B Special Education from $1,126,276.45 to $1,164,584.91; 572 Title I-A Improving Basic Programs from $421,802.82 to $428,213.09; 590 Title II-A Supporting Effective Instruction from $91,729.34 to $94,087.23; 022 District Agency from $23,879.05 to $25,569.05; 300 District Managed Student Activity Fund from $590,000 to $620,000; 003 Permanent Improvement Fund from $2,900,000 to $3,651,254.

The Board authorized the adoption of the new math curriculum for kindergarten and first grade purchase from The Math Learning Center.
The Board acknowledged the following appreciation weeks: Administrative Professionals Day (April 24, 2024) and Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week (May 6-10, 2024), stating that “the Board appreciates the outstanding efforts of all employees of North Royalton City Schools and commends them for “making the difference” in providing a quality educational experience by inspiring and empowering learners.”
The Board adopted a resolution honoring community volunteers and acknowledging National Volunteer Week (April 21-27, 2024).
The Board approved an agreement with Positive Education Program/Pep Assist for ten days of services from March to May, 2024.
The Board approved an agreement with Therapy Connection for speech therapy services for homebound students in effect for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 school years.
The Board accepted and acknowledge the following gifts/donations:
-The North Royalton Soccer Club donated $275 to North Royalton High School and $275 to North Royalton Middle School and $275 to the District for the use of the District fields for soccer practice.
-The National Basketball Academy donated $700 to be divided between the boys and girls basketball teams.
-William & Hannah Gocinski of North Royalton donated $50 to the Caring Closet at North Royalton Elementary School.
The next regular Board of Education meeting will take place on Thursday, May 16, at the North Royalton High School Community Room.
