The Board approved the following 2024-25 appropriation adjustments: Fund 200 Student Managed Student Activity Fund, from $500,000.00 to $560,000.00; Fund 003 Permanent Improvement from $1,800,000.00 to $2,789,501.12 (increased for High School boiler replacement and auditorium theatrical lighting). Two Charter Amendments headed to ballot

Two of the three proposed ordinances that would place Charter amendments on the November 4 ballot have been adopted by the North Royalton City Council. The city’s Charter Review Commission made their recommended three charter amendments, which were introduced in ordinance form at the April 15 City Council meeting. Discussion and input took place on all three measures until the May 20 Council meeting, where two ordinances were approved and one remained under review. Annual George Modock Jr. Memorial Fishing Derby is Friday, June 6

The 20th Annual George Modock, Jr. Fishing Derby will be held on Friday, June 6, at Memorial Park.  The fishing derby is named for George Modock Jr., an avid fisherman and family man who enjoyed sharing this hobby with his children. His family keeps his legacy alive by hosting this event with the City as a way to bring North Royalton families together to create lasting memories. Now that the warm weather is finally returning, starting a garden is on many a mind. Planting a vegetable garden can help provide pride and gratification in raising food that is delicious and nutritious. It also helps individuals and families by providing a most pleasant distraction in the planning and building of a garden. Some residents in North Royalton have found it difficult to plant a garden in their own yard, as sun requirements, deer, rabbits and other critters may be a deterrent. Grassroots group looking to end property tax

An Ohio grassroots group is looking to end property taxes in Ohio and has until July 1 to gather signatures to place a petition on the ballot in November. They are looking for citizens to assist in that gathering. Earlier this year, many residents were shocked when they received their 2024 Cuyahoga County Real Estate Tax bills, and they saw the new totals due. The increases, some of which were more than 30%, were part of the county’s sexennial reappraisal. North Royalton ranked as sixth safest city in Ohio

The City has, once again, been awarded a top spot in the list of safest cities. This time it was from SafeWise rankings, which recently released an annual Safest Cities in Ohio report. Police Chief Keith Tarase received correspondence from SafeWise that stated North Royalton was rated sixth out of the top 10 safest cities in the state of Ohio. The missive stated that “your city earned this recognition based on the latest FBI crime data, and it’s clear that your leadership, first responders, and residents are making a real difference.” SafeWise is a firm that researches, tests and review ....

Shred Day is May 10 at Memorial Park

The Community Shred Days for 2025 have been scheduled and are Saturday, May 10, 2025 and Sept. 6, 2025, from 9 a.m. to noon at Memorial Park, 14600 State Road. These events are open to all North Royalton, non-business residents at no cost. Funding is provided through a grant from the Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District. All documents are shredded on site by three trucks from Shred-Rite LLC. We ask that residents remain in their vehicles and have shred materials ready to go in their open trunk. NRCS Bus Drivers Shine at Regional Road-e-o

North Royalton City Schools was proudly represented at the recent Regional School Bus Driver Safety Road-e-o, held Saturday, April 26, as eight of the district’s drivers participated in the rigorous competition that tested both driving and safety knowledge. The District also provided six volunteer judges and support staff for the event. Demonstrating their skills among 375 participants across the state, North Royalton’s drivers tackled a series of precision driving events, including offset alley backing, parallel parking, student loading processes, and pre-trip bus inspections.
