The North Royalton Board of Education’s monthly School Board meeting took place on Thursday, February 13. The Board approved the following 2024-25 appropriation adjustments: Fund 16-9025 IDEA-B, from $1,027,737.98 to $1,039,988.50; Fund 551-9025 Title III Language, from $44,329.97 to $44,570.77; Fund 551-9125 Title III Immigrant, from $3,878.61 to $3,899.68; Fund 572-9025 Title I-A, from $421,542.27 to $424,096.51; Fund 590-9025 Title II-A, from $91,874.27 to $94,078.48. NRHS Educator and Student Honored for Excellence in Computing and Technology

North Royalton High School teacher Jeff Rhodes and student Naisha Chopra have been recognized for their outstanding achievements in computing and technology education. Jeff Rhodes, a dedicated educator at North Royalton High School, has been named a recipient of the NCWIT AiC Educator Award, a prestigious honor recognizing his commitment to encouraging students facing barriers to participate in technology. Abbey Road gravity sewer project begins

One of the two sewer projects on Abbey Road has begun. The Gravity Sewer Project has started, while another part of the Wastewater projects, the Sanitary Force Main and Gravity Sewer Improvement Project, has been paused for further review. The remaining project, the Abbey Road Sanitary Force Main Project originally included the conversion of one of the City’s two Wastewater Treatment Plants into a pumping station. North Royalton Elementary School (NRES) has officially launched its 3rd Annual Whole School Book Club, bringing students, families, and staff together for a shared reading experience. At 110 years of age, Emma Kmet is a Supercentenarian

Cleveland’s population was over five-hundred thousand, and it was the sixth largest city in the United States. The Tremont area on Cleveland’s west side was growing and bustling with people living, working, and creating families that would contribute to the fabric of the area. Paul Demian was one of the many merchants in the area. He had a small meat market and grocery store. One injured in Harbour Light condo fire

One North Royalton Resident was injured after a fire broke out at the Harbour Light Condominiums on Abbey Road. The fire took place on Thursday, January 23. North Royalton Fire Department officials reported that the call came in at just after 9 a.m. According to Fire Chief, Bob Chegan, the fire started in the living room, traveled up the stairwell into the second floor. Some residents see 30 percent hike in property tax bill

Many residents, who recently received their 2024 Cuyahoga County Real Estate Tax bills, were shocked to see the new totals due. The increases, some of which were more than 30%, were part of the County’s sexennial reappraisal. According to the Ohio Department of Taxation, “the real property tax is Ohio’s oldest tax. It has been an ad valorem tax – meaning, based on value – since 1825.” That leads to the practice of citizen homeowners continually being taxed on unrealized gains.
