North Royalton is one of many Ohio cities and towns that are re-opening for business after closures that were due to COVID-19. Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has established guidelines for various openings as a part of the Responsible RestartOhio plan. North Royalton city officials have utilized DeWine’s guidelines as a basis for operation here. Many businesses started to open in mid-May, with guidelines supplied by the state. Restaurants and bars were re-opened on May 21, again, with guidelines.
DeWine has established the following opening dates:
Gyms and Fitness Centers – May 26
Child Care – May 31
The North Royalton Family YMCA opened on May 26 and will open child care and day camps on May 31.
Sports Leagues (non-contact) – May 26
Public Pools – May 26
Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles (certain services) May 26
It has been recommended by the state that services that can be accomplished online should still be done so. With the passage of House Bill 197, all temporary tags set to expire or are expired are still valid for 90 days after the expiration. It is not necessary to purchase a new temporary tag. For more details on the online services provided by the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles, visit oplates.com or visit your local License Bureau.
Here in North Royalton, all city departments are up and fully functioning. The Building Department is open from noon to 2 p.m., but those that want to drop off plans or paperwork can utilize a drop box outside the building. About 60 percent of the plans are already being submitted online, according to Mayor Larry Antoskiewicz. At Memorial Park, the community garden is open. The tennis courts and skate park are also open. At this time, though, the pavilions are still closed. “We’re hoping to get more clarity by the end of the month,” said Antoskiewicz. Until that time, the gatherings of up to ten people have limited what he can do with other city offerings. The City of North Royalton Mayor’s Court is open to process tickets and payments and answer phone calls. The Service Department’s Saturday drop-off recycling station, located at 11545 Royalton Road, is now open to residents. Hours are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays only. The public is asked to unload their own vehicles and adhere to social distancing guidelines. The next Community Shred Day is set for Saturday, June 27, from 9 a.m. to noon at Memorial Park, 14600 State Road. The Office on Aging and Human Services, however, has still suspended all activities and events until further notice. The office is open and taking phone calls from residents.
The North Royalton Library will be offering drive-through window and curbside service starting June 1. For more information, visit their website at www.cuyahogalibrary.org.
